Yes @badmemory - A bit less limpy from Pup today, he has taken to standing with damaged leg held slightly off the ground, as though to say,"I've hurt my leg, you know!"
He is enormous fun @beanielou - having talked about it for 5 years it is never the perfect time; related to which, it seems he might be coming with us to Scotland as kennels not an option this time, him being so young. I do have a dog lady lined up for future trips but the timing and his puppy-ness are obstacles at the moment (she has three other dogs staying and will then be trying to breed with her own).
In other news, we might go out today as it seems no surprise birthday plans in place, but DS is coming here and I may suggest we go for a quick drink to the pub and eat some of the chilli I cooked yesterday. DH has quality control tested a piece of the bread pudding I made with the weird hot cross buns and end of life rolls that were in one of the TGTG bags (it will be going home with DS but I wanted to make sure it is OK. Having just stood on the scales and seen another 2lb missing I don't want to spoil my progress. Money matters, we remain in the dead zone with only the sugar for bee syrup and the milk weekly order impacting on budgets.

Only on p15 but loving it! Bee-keeping mentor! May I parachute in please? Have always wanted to keep bees; when my daughter added a bee-keeper to her Sylanians I was thrilled. I think she was humouring me when she crowned it 'Bee-keeper of the Year'; not once but numerous times.7

On p41 but just popping in to say that, bad as bunnies may be for trashing home-grown sweetcorn, they are amateurs apparently when compared with badgers. The brocks take one bite (having tunnelled beneath wire fences) per plant and then call in their mates to do the same...3

You do know you are completely bonkers starting at the beginning of my ramblings @Humdinger1!
Quiet day yesterday with no surprise outings planned (I don't think DH was listening when I hinted it would be nice).
He did offer to go out for lunch but we had masses to do with bees and one hive in, with pup in his crate, he (pup) was so distressed he messed himself and his bed (and then all over me (eeughuk!)
So in the end DH went to the Farm-house on his own while I laundered everything covered in puppy-poo (mixed with carrots it was a tad more smelly than normal) and managed to bathe defiant little beastie while he tried to get out of the bowl (which is really too small for him now) - anyway, you get the picture. Not quite the B-day surprise I was expecting, lol!
DS came over with a card with a picture of a miniature Dachs puppy on it (thoughtful) and we had a very civilised supper of the homemade chilli (DS actually enjoyed the broad beans I added from frozen garden produce; result!) followed by bottled plums (garden again) with Greek-style yogurt. I was trying to find a reasonably priced flight for DS to visit his friends who have booked a house in Florida at the end of July (terrible timing with school hols) - we concluded we will visit the local travel agent tomorrow (checked they are open on Sunday) as all the offers disappear when you click through
Having been reading about cooperative wind farm shares (thanks @themadvix), I disappeared down a rabbit hole this morning, exploring how many solar panels we could fit on our slate roofed extension, how much, SEG, storage, wind turbines at home and so on. We are definitely keen on my workshop/pig shed replacement being oriented south and including the mono tilt roof that would give up to 30m square of panel opportunities too.
I've been exploring our usage too and it is colossal for the size of house (even allowing for the electric 4-oven aga) - albeit that is turned on towards the beginning of October and off at Easter (so 7 months, maybe 7 and a half if September is cold). In those 7 months we use an average of 2.3kwh per hour (much lamented lost eek-screamy thing).
I don't understand the correlation between the panels and the amount they generate over what period, to be honestSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I've just caught up SL - what an awful shock with pup - and poor DH's head too! Hopefully both are now well on the road to full recovery. It's funny how often dogs still continue to opt for three legs over the full complement ages after an injury is healed - I believe the theory is that it's a simply habit thing - the slightest twinge from a limb (sometimes not even the one that was originally injured) will revert them to "carrying" a leg. Our last Spaniel had some knee problems which needed surgery - so did a fair amount of three legged dashing around in her time - and years later we could still get her to switch to three legs by asking her how her "poorly paw" was!
I've just nearly fainted at your electricity use too - ouchey!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks for dropping by @EssexHebridean - still a bit of a gash visible of DH's head but not enough to stop him. Pup is testing us now he has a full set of err, sports equipment visible. I understand they are notoriously difficult to train. Fortunately he associates me with food and it seems he would sell his soul for apple or carrot, so he comes when I call. Stealth cat got her revenge last night for all the "Let's play" chasing and after bed, she came downstairs and rattled his crate, making him bark, then upstairs to walk on us to make sure we heard him, then downstairs... you get the picture! DH did the late shift, getting to bed around 1 but I do the early shift - 6.15 this morning.
