Yep, milk away, that's only fair
Enjoy the little shopping trip, but don't do too much - having bits cut away for biopsy means your body's been injured, after all. Let yourself heal - I know you've got good nutrition, of course, just a little extra time.
2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
Aww thanks everyone. In the end I waited until the afternoon and went to our local "Harrods" (one up from a pound-store, that is its local nickname) and I bought a tray, seed potatoes, onion sets and a replacement box grater (a rectangular one to replace the almost broken triangular one) - with a satisfying rubber or silicon base so it won't slide. Then off to JL to collect the filter jug. No fill through the lid but it will do the job. Transferred the filter from the broken jug and told DH not to throw the lid away as it is the one for this filter (I know, I could put it on the calendar). I wonder if anyone needs the filter insert or the lid? It was literally the top of the jug that came away with the handle.
In money juggling the PB money has left the bills account so this morning I moved over £3k to the emergency cash account, moving it closer to the £10k I aim for. Then joy of joys, I logged in to the bills account and the HMRC Tax refund has arrived. I left an additional £100 in there (so £200) and moved the rest (£2167) to the same emergency cash account. Very satisfying - it is only just over £470 from target now. Although smugness aside, we have a couple of whopping bills this month and the house insurance and motorbike insurance in the next two months, so it won't stay there long. My dilemma is whether to include it in my "Save £12k in 2022" declaration for January. I think I will, and update my target accordingly. It really is most satisfying to have so much account activity this close to the end of the month in what is normally "the dead zone".

Blimey! Just listened to Martin's video about whether his advice re energy was right in hindsight and what now!? Price cap up from 1200 to 1900 in April. The Village heating oil syndicate had oil this week and it was almost 60p a litre. There was I thinking we will wait until March/April when it usually drops. I wonder if it will this year?Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

It's all a bit alarming isn't it SL - I'm very glad I've already started feeding the "buffer account" for the undoubted increase in the energy DDs which is coming.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

What is worrying me is that it is 50% on top of an already 50% that is 125% since November. So £100 in Oct becomes £150 in November and £225 in April. In my case £142 becomes £225 (both totally corrrect by all the figures) becomes £337.50. So £200 more to find a month. Scary doesn't even come close. That isn't a choice between heating and eating, it is a choice between eating a little bit of (as in not enough) heating. Thank goodness I'm all right Jack, although all my charitable giving has had to go. There are going to be a lot of jobs lost this year because no one has money to spend. Well except for those who live in grace & favour apartments (PM & ministers) who only pay a small proportion of their income excluding their MPs pay, it's alright for some!

I know
I checked my oil readings from last year & we used the final 500L of the tank between new years & the end of March, we had about 600L when I checked it mid Jan so still don't know what to do for the best, leave it/splash & dash/brim it? I'm getting prices of 56ppl from the supplier (33 miles away) who will delivery to 8 miles down the road but not my postcode, 60ppl from oil-club & boiler juice, & 62ppl from another
I keep looking at electric options (existing customer deals from BG who i'm stuck with having had the delight of SoLR) & listening to Martin, i've actually managed to drop my DD from what BG original set it at (£72, was £49 with PE, now at £60) but the only fixed tariff option is on the fence of more than I'd like (estimated £90/month, 50% increase) if it might drop back, I need to check my cost modelling.
if the Russia &Ukraine thing doesn't settle down all bets are off on everything even more

Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps7 -
@badmemory - we've also had to cut out several discretionary pots and put it towards heating/electric and food increases - charity, the occasional takeaway and cloths/shoe fund have been cut to zero - will have to raid the emergency fund if we find ourselves suddenly needing replacement boots or shoes - and here I was thinking having a 'good' job with 'decent' salary meant we would not have to worry about making ends meet! Keep reminding myself that simple food in our bellies, a roof over our heads and heat even if a bit lower than ideal means we are lucky & for that I'm very grateful!!!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
