Oh you have my sympathy. I've done that too - family history of BC - not so much the bottom falling out of your world as the world ...
Take it easy and be kind to yourself. I'd just relax with a book this afternoon and have an early night as I felt quite tired by the end of the prep. MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000

Loved reading the toileting puppy tales. It reminded me of Wattydog as a puppy who would dutifully go outside and then come in and toilet in my office. He clearly understood pees and poops were for outside the house. The office is outside the house so in puppy brain he had it sorted. Thankfully he now understands the difference between outside as in outdoors and outside of the house! It wasn't funny at the time but I do now look back and laughMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
As LadyGnome says, take care of yourself as kindly as you can - even the prep isn't nice. 10.30 is a good time, you don't have a huge amount of "empty" time tomorrow. Good luck with it all.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Good luck at the hospital. Not a nice situation but hope you have time to rest afterwards (and that someone else can be on puppy duties for a while!)3

Thanks everyone. Lots of lovely best wishes.
Gruesome bit It wasn't a Sunday morning I would recommend, but also not the worst experience of my life. The sedation did work a bit but the pain relief part didn't really and I could feel everything. It really is surprising how few Doctors seem to know that if you are hyper-extensible (double jointed) then local anaesthetics don't work so well if at all. Anyway, four polyps have gone for histology and the nurse in recovery said I am just pre-disposed to them. A repeat to look forward to in 3 years. I also had one removed in the recent gynaecological investigations. The description on the discharge papers is not alarming but we await the results of the biopsy analysis.
I went straight to bed with a hot water bottle when we got home and then later got up to crumpets and tea then macaroni cheese for supper. I am probably milking the wait 24 hours guidance and will take myself off out shortly to get seed potatoes, lettuce seeds, my prescription and then, in the opposite direction, collect the new filter jug from JL (surprisingly, cheaper than big river company for the model we wanted). I need to do some studying too and should really get our washing on.
In money things I bought £10k of premium bonds with DH's pension drawdown (I have won more often, being the rationale!) and he has received the confirmation that his tax refund is imminent from HMRC (at midnight plus one minute!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I finished the year at £2880.99/£3000 or 96.03% of my annual spend so I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026

Glad it went ok. Feel free to milk the 24 hours, there is nothing so urgent that can't wait a bit longer if needed.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000
