Halfords bicycle warranty

You sure it's only done 1500 miles. Chainset looks badly worn. From the picture the chain looks very old too. Was it looked after? Lubed etc?
I really doubt Halfords will replace anything. If it came like that, you could take it straight back, but after that long, it just looks badly maintained and worn out. If I was Halfords, I'd assume you'd ridden it around the world, or swapped it some old components.
It could be that something (chain) was setup wrong from the start, but too difficult to prove now.0 -
For the chain ring to be in that condition after 1500 miles you have to question if the bike was set up correctly in the first place. A mate one bought a bike from Halfords and the assembly was awful which is shocking as most of the stuff is set up in the factory.
To the OP take your bike to a good bike shop and let them sort it properly.0 -
Thanks to all who have responded. 1500 miles is accurate - most of it on Strava. Bike has been riding smoothly and I was only aware of the problem because the Halfords technician told me. I do avoid riding the large front ring with the big rear cog, as this was explained in the owners manual. The chain looks worn as I made the mistake of riding the bike 3 times on the salted wet roads, and as it was dark each time I got in, I didn't clean the salty muddy mess off the chain or mechanism. Won't do that again. If Halfords still refuse, then I'll replace the chain and leave the rest as it is. Thanks again.0
