J2 Solutions

Hi all,
Just found this forum and it seems to be really great:A
I have just this second recived a letter from J2 solutions. The problem is that I live with my in-laws at the moment and I really dont want another letter coming here or anyone to knock on the door as Id rather that they didnt know too much about my financial issues.
So what should i do? should i just bite the bullet and call them or ignore it and hope that another letter doesnt turn up. Im also worried that they could phone the house.
I have 2 ccjs and another possible debt that is being looked into as i have requested proof that i took credit cards out in 2002. The debt collection company that are doing this are really not to bad to deal with but Ive heard so many bad things about J2 solutions and I really dont know what to do.
Any advice would be greatly welcomed;)0 -
dont phone them, to be honest if its for a real debt owed then you might as well start the action. get them to prove its a real debt and don't believe a word they say until you have proof. I had two debt agencies chasing for one debt and had I paid both Id b=never had got my money back!
Send the prove it letter and then the cca request once you get a response what iyts in regards to. Its not going to go away so you might as well deal with it and you never know you might find its a statute barred debt and no cca anyway!
good luck0 -
Thanks for the advice.
Does anyone have a link to the show the letter that I should write to them?0 -
hi all im new here, ive just had an alert on my Equifax Credit Searche about J2 Solutions ltd saying ive got an Outstanding Debt but i dont, ive not receved a letter from them.
im buying a house and i will be compleate on the 31st oct how will this efect my mortgage company lending the money
Thanks B0 -
Hi everyone, I've had a similar letter to those mentioned already but this one is strangely worded.
Its addressed to the occupier but they are searching for someone with my surname, but at an address 6 streets away.
Now its very strange that they could be searching for someone with the same surname as me, and 'randomly' send it to me. Especially as my surname is not exactly very common, although they have been rather amateur about it, and spelt it wrongly.
Is this another ploy that they use to get information?
As far as I am concerned I have absolutely no depts with anyone, except my mortgage.
I'm thinking just to ignore it. Any thoughts from anyone about this different tactic?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi lexey
First of all, tell your sister not to worry (the same goes for you). By what you say this 'debt' could be unenforceable through the courts, anyway. If it is more than six years old (five in Scotland), and providing that you have made no payment towards it, nor acknowledged it in writing, during that time, then it could be 'Statute Barred' under the terms of the Limitation Act, 1980. Quite simply, if this is indeed the case, then all you need to do is to tell the thugs at J2 that you will be making no payments as the 'debt' is Statute Barred (the ONLY reason you need give) and they should cease any further attempts at collection.
Read the following link, where you will also find a template letter that you can send to J2:
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=25_liability_for_debts_and_the_limitation_act
J2, and their bedfellows Mackenzie Hall, specialise in the 'collection' of old debts by preying on the alleged debtor's ignorance of any protection that the Law may afford the debtor.
Also, please tell your sister that she is not obliged to give these 'people' any information about you whatsoever and J2 should stop phoning her as this constitutes harrassment.
It is MOST UNLIKELY that anyone from J2 is going to knock on her door. Even if they did, they would have no authority whatsoever, no legal right of entry, no right of 'siezure of goods' and they must leave immediately on her request.
To see how J2/MH should (but seldom do) conduct their questionable affairs, have a look at the OFT Guidelines on Debt Collection - download a copy - on the following link:
http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf
Then ring one of the Debt Counselling Charities, such as:- National Debtline - www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/ - 0808 808 4000
- CCCS - www.cccs.co.uk - 0800 138 1111
- Or a Debt Adviser at your local CAB
Good Luck.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

It is, indeed, a ploy that this pitiful example of everything that is bad in the already seedy world of 'Debt Collection' employs.
Even though it directly conflicts with the Office of Fair Trading Guideline on Debt Collection, J2/MH, and others of their ilk, will often write to everybody in the area who has the same surname in the hope that they will either 'ensnare' the actual 'debtor' or, even more frightening, scare some totally innocent soul into paying against a debt that was never theirs:

hi rog2,
thank you so much getting worry about it, i just didin't who they are or any thing about them thank you again0 -
I may be being old-fashioned, but does anyone on this thread feel *any* sense of responsibility to repay the debts on which this company J2 is seeking payment? It sounds to me as though many people here are basically condoning theft, pure and simple. Of course everyone has their excuses and it's easy to criticise J2's tactics, but if people are basically being criminal and avoiding paying money to someone, I don't have a problem with companies trying to use any means to track them down. To me, it's disgraceful that so many people feel it's OK to move house, change phone numbers, and try to disappear just because they don't feel like making the necessary sacrifices to pay off a debt. They should be ashamed of themselves, have more pride in themselves.
I say this in particular because I've seen the sharp end of someone not paying a debt - tenants refusing to pay rent and walking out of my house leaving it in a terrible mess, private individuals having work done by my builder and then refusing to pay because of the slightest of excuses, companies subcontracting work from this builder and then declaring themselves bankrupt, and now we have whole companies going genuinely bust because they can't get loans from the bank or someone else is not paying their invoices. How would you feel if someone owed you money or your employer stopped paying your salary? I'm therefore happy to cooperate whenever I hear from J2, or any other debt collection agency - people who owe money deserve to be pursued until they pay - they should never have got into debt in the first place, and I'm pleased they're scared if the debt agencies track them down - they deserve it.0
