I can't comment on Q7's as never driven one but last year my Labrador escaped through the garage and ran across the road and an Audi Q7 hit him side on at 40mph, after picking him up from 4 doors down in a heap on the pavement I took him to the emergency vets, he stayed overnight and was discharged the next day with cuts and bruises. I honestly thought he had been killed.
It happened at night and the next morning the owner took a pic of his front bumper and sent it to me. It looked like he had hit an elephant. Anyway it turns out they have super energy absorbing stuff inside the bumpers which absorbed all the energy when it hit my dog Max (who is asleep on my foot as I'm writing this). The vet said if he had been hit by a smaller or older car he probably wouldn't have survived.
So if you want to run into dogs or people then yes get one! Ha ha.0 -

Great comment, even better that Max survived. I've known dogs killed by cars going far slower too. I'll still be on the lookout for dogs and hopefully continue to avoid them.Hope Max makes a full recovery.

I'm not so sure I agree with you on the unsuited to a money saving forum though.
My point was more along the lines of it not being a a very MSE car - 3 year old ones are selling for about £20k, and you can get better for pretty much anything for less. We got a year old, 7 seat Captiva for £15k, for instance. Not as fast, at least as good for space and a lot cheaper to run. No badge points though.
I totally get the idea of going MSE once you've got the car, but I wouldn't be cheaping out on the tyres.0 -

Well the tyres Audi recommend for it are around £1200 for 4...I've put one set on and they literally lasted no time at all. The new mobile tyre guy I now use explained that they are made out of a super soft compound and the wear on them is huge. Yes the grip is outstanding and also there was little or no noise from them.
However the tyres I now use (recommended by the tyre man) have just as good grip, and I can totally put up with any noise. The noise is only really noticeable on certain tarmac sections.
These tyres have lasted double the mileage and there is plenty of tread left on them. They also come out the same factory as the Michelin tyres and strangely they had the same ratings as the Michelin equivalents, minus the expensive cost. The budget one's also come out a bit just above the alloy rims, so provide a nice cushion for any kerbing that the other half decides to do.
I agree that a lot of times you get what you pay for, but I've learnt that tyres perhaps don't fit in to that category.0 -
Why on earth would you choose to make people see you as a !!!!!!?
Those cars are horrific, ugly beasts and I can't wait for the day they're put out of production.0 -

If people choose to make a judgement on another by what car they drive...then they certainly have issues that are hindering them.
Sorry to say, for you, these cars are just getting more popular.0
