Virgin mobile charging for dialled calls even when number is busy?

If the destination number is diverted elsewhere, like to the owner's mobile, then that may be why your call is counted as being answered. You think the landline is busy, but the mobile is busy.0

No, this is not the case as I have tested it by ringing my own landline number & hanging up after 2 rings (result charged 8p)
You cant email Virgin & I spent another hour on the phone yesterday being told by a "Manager based in the Philippines that as soon as I dial any number I will be charged for connecting to their network and that it was not permitted for me to speak to any staff based in the U.K.:mad:0 -
I don't want to change providers as most of the people I call are on Virgin & should be included in my "50 free mins per month Virgin to Virgin ( another problem as they have started charging me for these as well).I have used this old tariff to my benefit for the past 5 yrs spending approx. 50p per month. I think they would like to get rid of me & are deliberately overcharging me in the hope I will leave.0

If the "Ringing" is more than 1 Minuit, it counts as a "Call" even if unanswered.0

Some very strange "facts" on here. Maybe there should be an X-files category?0

Agreed. However it IS true you can be charged for ringing and engaged tones when calling cross-network. Any connection charge is billed when the originating network hands the call on to the recipient's network. Once it goes through the gateway, the cost is billed - even if the caller eventually gets a busy tone, or voicemail welcome message. The only time this doesn't happen is if the call fails due to a Number Unobtainable signal.
This is also true on mobile networks, but less of an issue as it comes out of your bundle and isn't so noticeable.0 -

You haven't got the landline diverted to your mobile?
Someone I know did that, then tried phoning his wife at home, and couldn't work out why it was engaged so much. Took him a few goes before he realised. :rotfl:0 -
