250m EVs on the road by 2030?
There were 1.3bn vehicles on the road in 2016, with some forecasts saying 2bn is now imminent.
I've been seeing lots or articles such as this:

No doubt some of the lesser developed countries will be taking up the slack, but even there public transport systems are improving, particularly in the large cities.0 -
Jaguar Land Rover teams up with BMW to produce electric carsJaguar Land Rover is teaming up with BMW in a partnership designed to lower costs and try to get ahead in the race to produce electric cars for the mass market.
The UK’s largest car manufacturer and Germany’s BMW said they would work together to develop electric motors, transmissions and power electronics in the latest industry alliance formed to address the challenges posed by electric and driverless cars.
The two companies would jointly invest in research and development, engineering and procurement to support volume production of electric cars, allowing consumers to shift away from petrol and diesel cars.Mart. GM are talking the talk, I really do hope they start walking the walk too, as their president makes some good points:Speaking at the UBS Global Industrials and Transportation Conference on Wednesday, General Motors president Mark Ruess told the audience his company will soon be able to sell electric cars at “very average transaction prices.”
Reuss added that the cost of building an electric car is coming down while the cost of adding technology to conventional gas burners to make them meet regulations is going up. “We’ll reach parity a lot sooner than people think. We’re driving down the cost of batteries and the whole EV in general.”
GM Claims It Can Sell Affordable Electric Cars That Are Profitable
If America (and the rest of the world) insist on higher fuel mileage and cleaner cars, then the leveling of the playing field looks like it would level the costs too.Mart. I took delivery of my Tesla Model S last weekend. I’ve not driven far yet, just home from the dealership and out to the shops but it’s pretty nice so far.0

The UK price of the Model 3 is quite disappointing. Over £40k with tax for the base model. Remember when it was expected to come in well under £30k?
Nissan is releasing the new 62kWh Leaf, available to order now. The 40kWh version is getting a refresh as well with a new battery. Sadly the rest of the car remains the same.0 -

I'll be honest, I haven't really kept an eye on UK prices, but I thought expectations were for a $ to £ conversion, especially once VAT is added as I don't think(?) sales tax is included in the US pricing as it varies from state to state, so £35k+. I don't recall any mention of sub £30k ...... hope it wasn't me that said it.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. 2016 news report of the announcement of the Model 3. It’s got a bit more expensive since then.

$1=£1 has long been a decent rule of thumb for transatlantic vehicle pricing.0
