Thank you all once again for your amazing and insightful replies.......
One thing that has come to mind.....with their been no Council tax on the property...I imagine for the past 5 - 6 years , I have no record other than my rental agreement that I have been living where I have been.
Will this of adversely affected my credit rating ? and my chances of getting a mortgage ?
When the council tax situation has been dealt with ....will the council put me on the record for the past 5 - 6 years ?
Can the council tax records be altered / amended once any particular year ends .
If the council tax does result in the full 5 - 6 years been paid , should I expect the records to be updated and do I have a right to have them updated / amended.
This would be purely for future loans / mortgages etc.
I have no applied for any loans at my current address , but my credit card bills , bank statements etc all of which where setup at my old address pre 2011 , so they just simply required a change of address.
My driving licence is registered to my current address and so Is my car , car insurance etc....
But really concerned I might have issues with perhaps a future mortgage due to a bit of a black hole caused by not been registered on the council tax correctly....
Advice please...!!!!! Lifes wonderful !!!!!0 -
No, it will not affect your credit rating. The bill is only being issued now and you will have to ignore the demand and let it go to court for anything to happen.
Council tax as an item doesn't appear on credit files.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi , Thank you for your reply.
My current council tax bill however it ends it will be paid on time.
What I am more concerned about , is that there is no record for loan companies to see I have been at my present address for the past 5 -6 years .
I am clearly not registered on the electoral roll since 2011 to the present date (even though I registered for the Brexit vote 2016)
Can the council amend the records to show that I was registered for council tax for say 2011 , 2012 , 2013 etc.!!!!! Lifes wonderful !!!!!0 -
Why are you not registered to vote? Is it because no registration form has ever been sent to you?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Yes no registration in the past , no form has been received in the past + I had not bothered to vote in the past at my current address , basically as mentioned in my first post , me registering to vote for Brexit , is pretty much what started the ball rolling with regards to council tax , I registered to vote , card came through, I voted , my Name popped up as registered at my landlords address (the annex is pretty much the same as the main house address with "Annex" added at the end) .
Landlord came to see me , I said no I had not registered at his address , but a few weeks ago I had registered to vote for Brexit.....landlord (nice guy) said he would have a word with the council...landlord explained the property situation on his land to the council and to remove me from his address........council duly informed him, it sounds like they would need to pay the property a visit as it sounds as if the "Annex" needs to have its own council tax bill.....
I registered to vote online back in May/June 2016!!!!! Lifes wonderful !!!!!0 -
So if it hadn't been for Brexit, this thread would not have needed to have been started? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Correct ! but I guess It would also of left in odd situation when trying to apply for loans too , as I would not be found on the electoral roll...which I believe is important..
Do you know If the council can amend the electoral roll to show I have been living at the address since 2011?!!!!! Lifes wonderful !!!!!0 -
As far as I'm aware they won't - you can only ever be added to the list for a year where you actually registered for that year.Do you know If the council can amend the electoral roll to show I have been living at the address since 2011?
CraigI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

That is going to cause me problems I guess if I apply for a Mortgage , so my credit has also be adversely affected not from the council tax bill from the actual fact of not been registered to vote , so pay for 5 years of council tax and still not be noted ... woe is me !!!!!! I don't think it will affect your credit. The reason credit agencies care about your address history and your being on the electoral roll is to confirm your identity and be able to gather all your history. Being on the roll at the time the check is run is what matters. If your banks etc had your address correct, then your credit report will have been accumulating associated with the right address.0
