Well they've made a rather royal !!!! up of my switch from FD.

Well it was partly my fault I guess. The first switch didn't go through as I posted before so they put it through again, and this did go through today.

Now the issues. I got paid yesterday to FD, rather than risk a hold up when my switch went through today I transferred my salary over yesterday. All well and good I thought. At 7.30am the FD switch team decided to transfer yesterday's balance over to TSB even though I had transferred my salary yesterday. And the result massively overdrawn now on FD.

Oh but it gets better, I had to contact TSB this morning who said they could reverse the payment which they did, it got returned to FD via CHAPS but it never arrived at FD and can't be found, and FD tell me that even if it does arrive back because of the account switch it will be forwarded on to TSB again.

All in all a royal disaster, FD have been great and said I won't face any fee's over this !!!! up, TSB have said I will have to wait until Monday now until they can try and trace this money with the CHAPS team.

Are you financially associated with someone with a less than perfect credit record?
Don't think this matters much at all. After all I'm financially linked with someone who was bankrupt, and I got an account with an offer of £900 auth o/d. Don't need the o/d, but they can't have been worried by financial associations. My Credit rating on most CRA's is "fair" rather than good, as well
  • I have 3 different addressess in the last 3 years, but the online application form only allows you to enter only 2 addresses. If the duration covered by the present and previous address do not add up to 3 years, the application form does not allow you to proceed online.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so then how was it resolved please?

Ashamed to admit I looked into it just today and realised I am likely to miss the deadline as I have TSB classic account at the moment and would have to close it before applying. I suppose I could not close and reopen it in a day specially Saturday, could I ?
Or would it be ok if I open the account today and close previous account and complete switching form layer?
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.
  • You can take the "Plus" off the account (and still leave it open) and then open another "Classic Plus" account.

Have not found the option of removing "plus" online, popped into a branch, was told it did not apply. Closed the account. Now the question is whether I should apply for a new one over weekend or on Monday (ladies at the branch said the offer extends up to and inclusive Monday but they were in doubt it will work for me as whether I would applied today or Monday it sill would go the same working day. )

  • Are you applying whilst logged in?

No, following the MSE link there is no way to log in whilst applying, as far as I can see. Applying from within my online banking presumably won't work as it isn't via the link.
  • So I closed my account. Just this second gone through the link and opened a classic account.

Only thing is, I've gone to do the switch and I was going to put the date for later in March because I only have one dd on the account I'm going to switch. Well, I set an extra up last night but It will be taken on the 5th.

I'm just wanting reassurance really, that I can opt for the later date or is there an option to switch somewhere anyway later on down the line?

Having done alittle more research, I'm guessing leaving it open now, and following the link to switch once my 2 direct debits are both active on my other account is the best option.

I'm happy to be proved wrong though.

Just hope I will be paid given I only just closed it (but I can't see it been a problem).

Trying to apply now , got an error page at the end of filling the form and when I try again I am getting the error page as soon as I click on TSB link
