Marmalade all done! Extremely yummy but it only made 6 jars. Worked out costing and it's about £1 per jar  Not very money saving! But it was organic Seville oranges. I'm going to try the left over orange peel recipe which is on the grocery challenge thread as we've got lots of oranges from out fruit and veg is. Hopefully it will be a bit cheaper!
How's your marmalade Fayolle?
Not much flying again today as I've got to take ds into town to get the rest of his things for school ski trip. Also not very money saving!!! I've also decided to get myself a yogurt maker from Lakeland as I just can't seem to make it properly. I have tried all the money saving ways suggested - can't even seem to use the easy yo thing properly! Hoping it will make coconut yogurts for me (as well as copious amounts of normal yogurt for the rest of the family!).Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 6000 -
Morning all, hope sick dogs and humans are on the mend.
Reminder to do your bid counting today or tomorrow for the RSPB birdwatch. Mr N is doing something in the garage with a friend and a motorbike, then we're going into town for the excitement of the tip, a charity shop and to get me a new office chair! Ooh while I'm typing this there are 2 goldfinches and 2 blue tits on the feeders in front of my computer.
The slow cooker is bubbling away with dinner and the WM is on so that's a few things done.
The rest of the day will be report writing, going to garden centre for free coffee and buy a few things for MIL as we're able to put up a bird feeder outside her flat. Then we'll help her with a bit more sorting out, but she is settling well. This weekend we also need to write a list of what we want to do in Portsmouth next weekend - maybe even a mini flymeet - check a cc bill and plan next week's work. Have fun everyone.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Good morning , raining in Cheshire today so we are going to do the bird watch in the morning.
Little fella (yes, that is the dogs name!) seems to be a lot better this morning so all good vibes thankfully received, they worked thank you xxx
I seem to have hurt/ slept wrong on my left shoulder ,can't lift my arm, and it's hurts like mad. So today is basics only and a slow cooker evening meal.
Big hugs to everyone, whether you want them or not so there! Xx0 -
Glad that Little Fella is on the mend Loudmouth and that the party went well Bossy.
Well, I have been flying. I took the dogs for a walk and managed a little further with no more pain and I have been removing dust and clearing and bleaching what I can. So upstairs is clean, our bedroom looks great and has clean bedding on. Including an additional fleece throw as we still have no heating or hot water and my calls are not being returned.
Just the LR to get clean and tidy now but I stopped to have an early lunch. I have to say the kitchen is coming along nicely now. Some of the base units and worktops are in and DH has chosen really well. I like it.
Hope everyone is having a great day.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Afternoon all
Hope the poorlies (human and animal) are all feeling better.
Sympathy vibes to Loudmouth - I went to the GP this morning about my painful shoulder and am now on a waiting list for a joint injection: *only* 4-6 weeks' wait!!!
Glad the party went well, Bossy.
Yesterday DH and I cleaned the whole house top to bottom (except windows) in just over an hour, then I rewarded myself with lunch out with a friend. The man came to plant my rose and apple tree in the afternoon, and in the evening I baked a cake.
I refilled the bird feeders this morning, but we have only had the usual suspects own. No sign of the nuthatch that we spotted last year, nor of the woodpecker who comes regularly to the front garden. Two flying squirrels muscled in on the peanuts, though!
This afternoon we are going to visit DH's colleagues on the railway for half an hour on our way to visit DS3 and family, so I need to go and cook an early lunch.
Catch up later x0 -
I have now done as much cleaning as I can so just having a cuppa then I'll walk the dogs again and come back and read the paper and do my nails. DH is taking me out for dinner tonight.Spend less now, work less later.0

Oh you lucky girl, I so would love to have a proper grown up Saturday night dinner out! With my best dress and sparkley earrings. Have a lovely time and maybe a gin and tonic for me!0 -
I would like to say that my marmalade was as successful as your's sounds, Cowboymum....but I just realised that I forgot to buy sugar! Oh well, it will have to wait for another day now to get finished.
We had a bullfinch on our bird feeder this morning. Very pleased as I haven't seen one for probably well over a year. I'm spending time scaring the jackdaws off so the little birds can get back on at the moment.
Went with DSister to visit my mum's old NDN this morning. She will be 92 tomorrow and is still coping well in her own home, but with help from other neighbours. It's quite humbling to spend time with her, as she doesn't complain at all when actually she has every reason to.
I have been going through the seed catalogues yet again, but I know really that it is avoiding looking at yesterday's list that I put off until today. Oh well, I will get myself into gear for an hour before going to pick up DD. DH is blasting out some heavy rock apparently as an "aid" to diy....you would think with that music going we wouldn't still be living in a diy renovation project 10 years after we moved in!!0 -
Sounds like a good party Bossy, washing up paper plates, what ever next, did they survive the water?
