Walked out - work going to delay my pay

Today i walked out of my work. Ive been there nearly 2 years. They wanted to train me in something that is covered by my job description, but Ive never done. Its very stressful and I don't work very well under time pressure. I have told them this but they said 'everyone is now being trained in this'. I know this is a load of rubbish and they are just training the ones that wont say nothing in disagreement.
Anyway today just wasnt my day, i ended up walking out. I got a phone call from my supervisor saying she has informed the manager(who doesnt work weekends) of todays events and that I need to return to work today to hand in my letter to terminate my employment. She also stated that if I dont do this by the end of today, my pay might be delayed, or wrong. We are due to be paid this coming Thursday.
Are they just trying to scare me into handing in my termination letter or is this true? I cant afford to have my pay delayed let alone wrong!
I didnt actually state that i was quitting, just that i was walking out.
Im now very stressed about what to do. I would have liked to end on good terms with me working my notice period but I cannot go back now as I feel embarrassed.
Can they delay my pay if i dont hand my termination letter in by end of the day today? Considering my manager isnt actually in until Monday anyway? Im shocked they havent even offered me a meeting to discuss the events, theyve just asked for this letter.
Any help will be appreciated.

It doesn't sound irretrievable. Perhaps try to meet with your manager on Monday and apologise for the events that took place.
In reality OP no organisation could ever change or progress if we only ever did what was in our job descriptions. Many were written for a different era. Learning something new may also reduce your stress because you will have confidence in using those new skills.0 -

Go back, eat humble pie, do the training and carry on working there until you find another job.
Then hand your notice in and leave properly.0 -
If you can't afford to have your pay delayed, how are you going to manage without any?
You wont be able to claim JSA for a while as you be sanctioned for quitting your job.
I suggest to go back and apologise/grovel do whatever you can to keep your job. Then start looking elsewhere and leave once you have somewhere else to go.0 -
As you seem to be in the middle of buying your first home and have CCJs hanging over you I really think you should go back into work at the earliest possible opportunity and apologise as profusely as you can and hope that they keep you on.
Your mortgage offer could be withdrawn if you're unemployed and any JSA claim is likely to be sanctioned, possibly for 6 months. You really need to get your head together asap or everything is likely to fall apart.
Good luck.0 -
Can you afford to have your pay permanently delayed?
You should go back and speak to them and pull this out the fire before its too late (today).
When my supervisor called me, they didnt mention anything about talking it over. They only wanted me to go in to hand in my termination. Therefore Im assuming its already too late.
Surely they cant just threaten me with my pay?
Im looking at it as a blessing in disguise because Ive been stuck in this dead end job purely because the pay is somewhat decent. Im not bothered about saving my job, I just want my wages from this past month.

So you decide you don't want to be trained in something which your employer is perfectly entitled to train you in because you've never done it! Do you realise what you are saying?
During my 35 year career there must have been 10 or more various tasks I performed, which I had never done before. Few jobs are static, changes frequently happen. If you leave this job and happen to strike lucky and get another job, chances are you will at some time have to do something you haven't done before.
Go in early Monday morning and grovel, make some plausible excuse for absenting yourself and say you welcome the training. Because if not, your pay will be very, very much lower. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

Are you kidding us?
You've just walked out of your job after refusing to undertake a manager's reasonable request to undergo training... what do you think any reference from them is going to say?
Not bothered about saving your job? Are you that arrogant that you feel you can just walk into another without a reference - or worse, with a bad reference?
Go back to work now - say you were feeling very unwell and that affected your mood. Apologise and say you appreciate you will have to make the time up and undergo the training.
Then... you'll, hopefully, still be employed whilst you look for a new job.:hello:0
