63 plate volvo xc60 done 47k at a dealership. d4 diesel priced at £17500.

Approved select.

Any tips on how to haggle.

I am thinking of asking for min. 3 years servicing. Happy to walk away as not desperate for next 3 months.

Pretty much made my mind that this is the car we want.

Looking at buying in cash. Ofcourse will use credit card to pay deposit for additional protection.

Going for test drive on wednesday.

That specific car or that model?

What are others priced at? If the cars priced competitively you're not going to get much off. You'll probably get the best deal taking tha garage finance then paying it off.
  • Thanks Billy.

    That model really.

How will finance be cheaper. Emissions are 159g. I am assuming road tax will be £185 and not affected by changes in April.
  • Because the salesman will get commission on the extras he adds on, therefore he can offset them against the amount he'll lose on the price of the car. The finance won't actually cost you extra if you pay it off. Taking their extra warranties or service deals would mean you'd have to pay for them.

I'd only consider taking the finance (if i otherwise didnt need it) on a used car if there was a manufacturer backed incentive (such as say, a £500 or £1000 contribution), otherwise i cant see any real advantage.

sorry still dont get it.. if i pay money in 12 month installment. I will still have to pay 12 months interest which in this case will be appox 6%.

So does that mean haggle asking price down by 2-3%.

Three years servicing could cost the salesman £600-£1000.

If the car is otherwise correctly priced relative to other cars for sale (and bearing in mind the XC60 is in demand) i'm not sure thats going to be realistic?

thanks rs. will that be false economy. Min term i can see for finance is 12months. The interest will cost me more than servicing. Sorry Billy...i know u tried to explain me. Feeling really thick.
