Do I have to press anything to 'enter' the code, or should the phone just recognise it as it does the IMEI request?

The second code is correct - it is possible it might be on O2?

Insert a WRONG sim card, one that doesn’t work in the phone. When it says phone restricted, press
‘undo’. It will ask you for a restriction code and input the code into the box on the screen.
