Hi - on ebay there are people selling codes to unlock 5310's rather than using a cable at a shop etc - are these likely to work if I buy a code and put it in, as it seems other advice has been that 5310 is a BB5 phone and needs a cable.

BB5 phone I’m afraid, only your network provider, or a professional unlocker can help here. Don't waste your money buying codes, there aren't any.
