ok now i am being incredibly dull - how does this work???

i take it i put the sim in and where it says enter PIN code, i enter this number - the only thing is i can't seem to be able to enter # - sorry for being dull

EDIT*** i entered the PIN number on the SIM card and it said phone restricted - so it now says enter restriction code - i can do #'s now but i can't do letters!

hit the * key repeatedly and it will give you the letters
