You will have to take it to a phone unlocking shop to have the security code reset on it using cables and hardware.
  • My wife and I both bought Nokia 6234 mobiles from Vodafone on a 12 month contract.

When my contract was up I asked Voda for a Network Unlock Code, as I wished to transfer to O2. They told me that the code would have to be obtained (by them) from Nokia, and would take between 5 days and six weeks.

I emailed Nokia, who told me that they do not lock mobiles before delivery to network providers, and therefore did not hold any unlock codes. I then grabbed Vodafone by the (metaphorical) lapels and told them they were lying to me. I also copied Nokia's email to them.

I received the NUC next day, without apology or word of explanation. My wife has now decided to change providers, and has asked for the NUC. Guess what? she received the same response as I did, word for word, so I sent Voda another polite but insistent email yesterday, with copy of the Nokia reply, demanding the unlock code. I received the code today.

If it's of any use to others, here is what Nokia said -

Thank you for emailing Nokia Care.

In regard to your enquiry, when phones are manufactured by Nokia, they are not locked to any particular network by default to enable us to distribute them to the distributors and retailers. Network providers will lock the phone to their network to ensure that the customer will not use a different SIM card on the phone. This is usually applicable to phones which are purchased on a plan as the cost of the phone will be subsidised by the network.
Please note that the unlock codes for SIM-locked phones can only be obtained from network operators and not provided by Nokia.

    Kind regards,

    Dana

You will have to either buy the unlock code off orange or unlock it at a unlocking shop, there are no free codes for this model.
