I have just tried without the sim card and it says 'cannot undo restriction'.... I'm now thinking it might be operator error on my part as everyone else you have helped with great success...!!

If its saying cannot undo restriction. it means its a hardlocked phone which cant be unlocked by free codes.it has to be done by cables and hardware, what location are you in ?

No free codes I'm afraid as its a BB5 model, u will have to buy the code of your network or take it to a pro unlocking shop.

If its deTeMobile D1 T-mobile (Thats the only T-Mobile I can find for germany) it will be

No enter the code without a sim card in the phone, its only if the phones from Portugal that you have to leave the sim card in.

BB5 model so no free codes I'm afraid, it will have to be taken to a shop to unlock or buy the code from your network.
