Please help...I have'nt purchased the phone yet, just thought I would get some help from experts in this field before I order.

a) Whether this phone will be already locked to tesco/O2 network (chances?)
b) Can I unlock the phone self or do I have to take to a market stall ?

Sorry, no remote codes for the 1208 direct unlock only. Shop or market stall.

Try Orange first, failing that, a shop should do it.
