    Insert a WRONG sim card, one that doesn’t work in your phone. When it says phone restricted, press ‘undo’. It will ask you for a restriction code, and input the code into the box on the screen.

    It's saying 'cannot undo restriction'. Does this mean that the code is wrong or that it is not possible at all? Thanks for your help

    It means that you have entered to many codes in your phone and it's now hardlocked. You will have to contact a pro unlocker I'm afraid.

    I bought a Nokia 6300 on ebay about a year ago and it is still going strong. I don't know what network it was on previously but I assumed it was unlocked to any network as my pay monthly Orange SIM worked without any problems. I have just signed up to a pay monthly SIM only deal with O2. I put the SIM in today and it said it was restricted. My query is two fold - can the 6300 be unlocked with free codes? or if not, how can I find out what network the phone was originally on from the IMEI so that I can contact the provider to try to get it unlocked?

    I can't find who I bought the phone from to ask them.

    Your IMEI number is coming up as a 6230i please confirm and check to see if it is locked to Vodafone.
