Although it's got a virgin sim card and was sold as a virgin pay as you go phone it displays T-mobile on the screen... Does this make a difference?

I've searched tirelessly after 'volunteering' to unlock a friend's mobile but can't find a site/info so hoping someone can help on here please. It's a Samsung e350e and currently on orange. The IMEI is 357024007114399.
