I have a Nokia 6230i locked to Orange (UK) with IMEI code 357969006955558
I've tried a couple of the free sites and was given code #pw+149574375717577+7#
but this didn't work - can anyone suggest an alternative ?

the only free way to do it is with the software and cable here

Im being stupid - have the cable(i think its the right one) a usb cable?

not the original cable that comes with the phone, read through the thread, ask questions in that thread if need be but if you don't feel confident then don't do it

Please help, I've just ordered this phone from ebay and if I can't get it working by tomorrow I'll need to send it back.
