Currys - terrible customer service!

I thought I'd share my frustrations following a purchase from Curry's. Here is the letter I penned to their customer services team this evening...

Good evening,

I am writing to you following the purchase of a fridge freezer (order number XXXXXXX and delivery reference XXXXXXX) from yourselves on 3rd January. At the time the product was not in stock, however within a week we received a message to inform us that the product was due to be delivered at the weekend.

When the product arrived with your delivery drivers, it was not delivered as the product was very badly damaged. They said that they would take it away and replace it the next day with an undamaged product.

The next day when the product was meant to be delivered, we waited in all day, only for the delivery drivers not to turn up at all. When we contacted customer services to enquire about the whereabouts of the product, we were informed (after an hour on the phone!) that they had "forgotten to load it onto the lorry". This in itself is very negligent behaviour.

Delivery was re-arranged for today (18th January) and we received a text message to say when the delivery would be expected. However YET AGAIN the delivery just failed to turn up, despite waiting in all day for it AND furthermore, taking a day's holiday from work in order to be at home to receive the delivery. This is absolutely unacceptable service.

We then went into our local store to try and resolve the issue (Bromborough) and spoke with the store manager who was absolutely appalled at the treatment and customer service we had received and advised us to write an e-mail to yourselves to understand how we can resolve the issue and have the fridge freezer which was now ordered over two weeks ago delivered.

As I'm sure you can imagine we're very disappointed and disgusted with the lack of customer service and being lied to repeatedly by your company regarding the delivery of a product. Curry's was a company we felt we could trust, but now I would seriously question whether or not to order from you in future.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Just wanted to warn other users about their antics. I've always ordered from ao.com recently and had nothing but brilliant customer service but on this occasion they didn't stock the model we needed so we went to Curry's instead - won't be doing that again in a hurry!

I wouldn't waste your time with currys they dont deserve your custom. Its bad enough every time I been in there its the hard sell on insurance or other products like mouse for a new laptop, anti virus

Order from AO.com they rarely let people down only thing is they again try to sell you next day insurance but I block there number

I only use Currys as a last resort or for smaller items like Roku stick, kettle even then they try it on

I stopped shopping in currys 8 years ago and refuse point blank to buy anything from them or PC world ever again

Can't say I've ever needed them. Our independent shops know what customer service means and bend over backwards for their customers, as well as being either cheaper or price match

I'll not shop at Currys again - awful sales and customer service. Went to buy a fridge/freezer > £1000. In shop said next day delivery - deceit. Went on web site - next day delivery - deceit, phoned sales and asked 3 times you sure it will be delivered tomorrow and 3 times told yes. This was last Tuesday - when I got the order acknowledgement delivery was for Saturday. I phoned sales > delivery > customer services and told regardless Saturday was earliest I could get it. As I was very insistent they did give me £115 (10%) goodwill gesture.
Noticed 5 days later they were offering £100 off - emailed cust service and asked for price match - got a message on answerphone that couldn't have it at same time as Samsung was offering £100 cashback. I've followed it up with another email saying the Samsung offer is separate to their offer and they should pay. I'll wait and see if I get any response. Will be taking it up with their head office but in the meantime after their deceit, lies and terrible customer service I'll not be shopping with them again.
Trying to do the right things right :)
  • They are well renowned for bad customer service. Even their own forums are inundated with complaints.

I love the way the staff are absolutely pressured into offering insurance so when you buy something like a £10 kettle for work they try and sell you an extended guarantee. After a laptop issue years ago I avoid them for anything costing more than about £50, the service is none existent.

My young son was once pressured. I went back in with him to cancel. They actually ' had' to call the Manager to quiz him ( pressurise) as to why he was cancelling.Cheek..
  • I tried to buy a high-end washing machine from Currys PC World recently and made all my payments etc. through a combination of their web-site and call-centre. Once the deal was done I went to the trouble of unhooking my broken washing machine and dragging out of the laundry room for recycling.
Then at the last minute I receive email from Currys PC World telling me that the order has been cancelled. NO explanation at all! I call them up and talk to their customer service people. They tell me that I have some sort of security issue. Of course, I have no idea what this means since I am someone with faultless credit, no criminal record as well as being a long-standing customer of Currys PC World. I go up 2 levels of management asking why I am a security threat and they all tell me that Currys PC World will not give any reason.

Their telephone staff were rude, impatient and obstinate. I have looked at the organisation’s finances and share price (parent company: Dixons) - it is doing very poorly as of April 2017. I am not surprised by this with such poor administration, inadequate due diligence and pathetic customer service. My recommendation is to avoid doing business with this organisation altogether. In the end, I got a much better deal anyway at ARGOS:-)

Their 'Price Promise' means that they will price match to the competition, at time of purchase, or up to 7 days afterwards. It does not offer to refund the difference if their own price drops after purchase. AFAIK, only John Lewis does that.
Their reputation as the UK's worst retailer remains undiminished though. You did well to get a 10% discount.

i ordered and click and collect item and was advised by email that the item was in stick and available for immediate collection.

I left it for 2 hours to give them time to pick the stock out and hold it for me only to get to the store and found out that they hadnt even bothered to check any of the orders that they had received during the proceeding 2 hours.

i only ordered fro them as argos dont have that particular item in sock ever
