My lifetime rent so far is well under 100k, and as the thread tells us "equity" is what a buyer thinks your worth, so maybe you need a bigger fag packet.....? :rotfl:

Sure it is, lets pretend its true. What I did not realise you had sold to rent in 1996! Just had a quick track back in my area, 1996 sold £165k, now worth 793k. And you are giving people advice:naughty:

    21yrs of rent, £100k. £4,750/year, £395/mo average.

Let's assume rent inflation has been linear, so that's a 2006 rent - so £530 after RPI today.

    Nice place, Crashy...

There are positives to renting, each to there own. This thread is about OP getting advice to sell his flat. I think Crashy could do an excellent thread offering advice to would be buyers and the advantages of renting.

Roof leaking? Ring landlord. Boiler failed? Ditto. Need to move in a hurry?

Some merit to both sides. I wish I owned a couple more.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.

Crashy is actually even less successful at property price forecasting than it seems: he sold to rent in 1996
OMG! hadn't realised it was as long as that

    Yes, thank you.

But not for 19 years, since I first bought a house. Although, tbh, I do have very recent experience of ASTs...

his prize will be his comfortable retirement, whereas Crashy will be moaning about private LL and how Crashy has been robbed by them as the rent Crashy pays goes into enabling those wise property owners to enjoy their retirement.

so sad, thank heavens for the social security heh Crashy?

Then you'll be surprised by most new/recent builds
