Morning all! I just did some little shopping to supplement my meal plan for the week: €5.69 on ginger, 30 eggs, and some shelf stable milk. That brings me up to €268.89. I'll ask OH to get a pack of Lebanese bread tomorrow for 90¢ so we can make pizzas and wraps.0

Hi all
No more grocery spends for me this week. I had a couple of "extras" but I took them from spending money.
Declaring at £170.47 / £120
This week has been horrendous in terms of organisation but also not very pleasant in general.
Saturday I was out all day for a lovely country walk with friends and dinner at theirs. Nothing got done at home.
Sunday I was all day helping at an open day at the poultry rescue I help at then straight back to my friend's after as she's just split up with her partner so a bit lonely. there till late again.
Monday I hadbooked off work for haircut at 11 at mum and dads, then lunch out and cinema with mum. Again not home till nearly 9 so nothing "extra" got done.
Work from Tue onwards, early shift so starting at 7 - finish at 3.30. I thought great, I'll get out dead on time Tuesday, get stuff done for a couple of hours, then do the overtime I had planned for. Well I didn't get out till half 4, had less than an hour at home then back to work, work till nearly 9.
Wednesday I have mum over, nothing extra done.
thursday - again finished an hour late at work, had agreed to help my friend move some of her ex's stuff out, didn't get home till half 8 then had to work again and finished at 23.30!
As I was leaving for work this morning, I opened the door of my animal room as alwasy and found my rat (who lost her sister a few weeks ago and has been declining in health ever since even though I've been spoiling her), huddled on the floor of her cage. I thought she was dead then realised she wasn't so got her quickly in the pet carrier and snuggled up and brought her into the office with me, with a vet appt in an hours time (as I wasn't allowed to leave the office as there's only a couple of us on that early). Well, she died in the meantime so I'm gutted and have been sat in work all day trying not to cry.
I love all animals but ratties I bond with so much, it kills me when they die. I won't take in any more rescue rats unless it's life or death as I can't deal with the upset! I'm also really horrendously allergic but I would never have given these two girls up.
Feel like I haven't stopped all week. My house needs a clean as I haven't even had time hoover and I am busy this weekend again. BUT it's payday today and so I'm going to plan out my month financially and get organised again because I can't deal with life when I am only treading water!!!
elsiepac I hate weeks like this. Sorry to hear you lost another pet. Hugs to you.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July ££110.46/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. One person vegan household with occasional visitors)Forever learning the art of frugality0 -
Awww, Elsiepac, sorry about your ratties.
I'm not declaring for March yet because I may end up doing a small top-up shop before the month rolls over - not sure what I'd need, but better to be safe. I am, though, at $1066 of $1000 and frankly I'm astounded. That includes the huge Costco shop AND a 10kg bag of bread flour, so I should be well set up to hit target in April. For a first month's effort I'm well pleased.
Meal plan for a cheap week (I have heaps of mince and chicken and didn't want to spend more at the butcher):
Saturday Lamb vindaloo made w/lamb chops to save money (enough left over for 1 x adult lunch)
Sunday Chicken cacciatore, mash, green beans (enough left over for 2 x adult lunches)
Monday Tofu and veg stirfry
Tuesday Chile con carne
Wednesday Dhal, green beans simmered in coconut milk, rice
Thursday Pea and ham soup (HM, already in freezer)
Friday Hamburgers and salad
I also baked mini pizzas, flapjacks and a peach and almond cake last night for school lunches.MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028
14 August 2017 - Refinanced: $220,000
January 2019 $211,580 Current MFD 31 June 20360 -
Declaring 151.92/155 quite pleased.
I'm pretty sure I don't need anything before the end of the month. See you all over in the April thread.0 -
Morning all - have been rubbish at posting this month - now stuffed with cold....
Totted up spending and am over my £85 budget by 31p - have been away for five days so did need a top up shop on return. Managed to get some YS bargains and the M&S deal which was good value so not too bad and should be ahead for April.
Meal plan done for the next five days so should not (famous last words) need anything before end of month.
Hope everyone has a lovely rest of dayJanuary 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200
