  • I have had such a lazy day, I have barely moved beyond a 5 metre radius of the couch. :rotfl:Mainly down to be slightly hungover. I have caught up on some lovely diaries too now though

I watched Shop Well For Less. A lovely family but I was amazed at how much they were spending. A 45 minute shower!

I have had a minor success though, called BT and negotiated a new deal. £33.49 per month for infinity 1 plus a new smart hub (should give us better coverage in the house, hopefully it will now reach the shed where we have a bar). They have taken evening calls off us, but only because we don't really use the home phone. I have finally emailed the gym, and will do my old exercise classes again (which I loved) which will save me £18 per month.

    So
Gym > exercise classes £18 saving
    BT deal £14 saving
    Scottish power £32
£64 per month better off :j

Next thing to tackle is pet insurance which renews in March I think. It's an astonishing £31.62 per month!
    Debt Jan 2017 = £42k
    May 2022 = £15k

Oh my gosh, I can't believe how sad I now feel that I didn't buy the pretty ironing board. I am actually sitting here looking at pictures of it:(.

That's an amazing monthly saving! Well done.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
  • Wow fantastic monthly savings! I keep forgetting to ring sky to discuss our sports package, always remember when they are closed :(

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Eat well for less is always an eye opener. But that's because they never choose people who can budget right on their groceries. I suppose if they did that there wouldn't be a show :)

Well done Paws on savings, I wish I was only going near my sofa today !

Wonder what the pet insurance will come in at.

Wow! Those are great savings and amazing how they add up! You have just given yourself over £700 a year! :D

Thank you so much! They are all suggestions people made when I posted my SOA, so I can't take any credit.

I'm really having a reeducation. I used to think "it's only £30 a month, we can afford it" or "I can't really be bothered to shop around just to save £15 a month". Which now, seeing it slowly add up, seems a bit ridiculous. All these extras add up.

Oh definitely do that one. Despite my laziness on most deals, I have always negotiated with sky when our deals run out. We have the full package for about £33 per month inc sports and movies. Just be charming, tell them you LOVE sky but can no longer justify the cost. If you don't get offered a deal siimilar to mine, go ahead with the cancellation, they will nearly always call you with a better offer. And if they don't, let it run out and wait till they do.

I love eat well for less, and still make their frittata recipe. This was SHOP well for less though. The family were delightful but they spent £10k a year on gadgets and a similar amount on shoes. They spent £4K on their energy bills. :eek:None of the ideas was groundbreaking, I didn't learn anything I didn't already know but it was still interesting.

It's a much nicer day (plus not hungover:o) so I'm going to get out in the back garden. I'm also going to tidy out the laundry room ready for delivery of the new ironing board!

I hadn't added it up but, wow! Well done me! That's a month off out DFD. Or a holiday.:j

I barely moved either. I blame the weather.

It was the 64 appliances switched on which shocked me. If I plugged in everything in the house I would get nowhere near 64 appliances.
