No absolute meal plan for me caronc but I am confident that it will include a turkey roast dinner (tomorrow) then probably some leftovers from that on Monday then at some point probably a fishcake, chilli maybe and some curry or something else in a bag in the freezer
Maybe by next week I will actually start to see some space in it:cool:
Pizza was lovely ..skipped the egg as it was actually quite a hefty meal in its self. Will no doubt be having a baileys liquid pudding soon thoughEnjoy your pudding

I've worked VERY hard to try to clear my freezer down.
It does seem endless though because it's easy to throw in three 1Kg bags of veggies ... but each meal using only a tiny fraction of that it'd probably take 60 days of fancying veggies to get through them.
I need fewer veggies in there. It's still got veg overload from Xmas. Still got most of a 1Kg bag of peas, most of a 1Kg bag of brussels, most of a 1Kg bag of chopped onions, a 1Kg bag of cauliflower ... and an additional random assortment of vegetables amounting to a further 1Kg. Then there are the roast spuds.
I don't want to eat things in haste to get rid of them, then find "the perfect use" for them.
The trouble I find in trying to use up food in exciting ways is that no matter what idea/recipe I come up with, I've never actually got the right ingredients to hand.... and if I buy those ingredients, some other item's been eaten by then, so I'm back to square 1. I kept buying bars of chocolate in Nov/Dec intending to make something .... then, before I'd made it, I'd find that I'd crept through to the kitchen and just scoffed the chocolate.
I think half the freezer could be occupied just with a loaf, a pack of crumpets, 3 1Kg bags of vegetables and a bag of oven chips.
I think, soon, I'll buy a pack of 2 "corned beef rissoles" - they're like a hash in a fat fishcake shape with breadcrumbs. At 99p you snort and think "pfft, I could make that myself cheaper" ... but then you'd buy a tin of CB at £1.50 and some spuds ... and then generate an amount double the pack you could've bought - and you'd have 4 rissoles, that'd then need freezer space .... and you'd have saved about 20p probably by doing that. So I should just grab a pack of 2 and enjoy them
Maybe I need to dedicate one whole month to "buying in food to eat, not make" - and spend a month just eating ready meals, to give myself a rest0 -
Shortbread fans.
I randomly spotted this when I was searching for something else - and thought some of you might be interested to read it.

Morning everyone
PN - thanks for the shortbread article. Interesting all the variations there are.
Karcher - were you up all night?:)
PN - I'd just buy the rissoles. I'd be more inclined to make them if I had the "bits" spare from making hash. Actually I might do that with the other portion of hash this week as I do like a rissole:) Get what you are saying re the freezer, I'm determined to get mine in to some sort of order hence the meal plans and joining the Freezer/Cupboard challenge reckon it's going to take me the best part of 2017 though:eek:
I've just taken a portion of bacon and some stottie cake out the freezer so bacon butties for brunch with plenty of HP sauce
Freezer bags - I like the ones that zip and use them a lot. I get the small ones from Tesco but now it's just me I find I'm only half filling them. Not huge issue in the scheme of things but has anyone come across one portion sized sealable freezer bags?0 -

I swear by ziploc quart bags ....just right for one portion and will hold liquid (soups, stocks etc ) without leaking before your freeze so you can lay them flat and stack them. I get mine when they are on offer from Costco so I always have hundreds in
PN go for the month off cooking ...why not and it will be interesting to record whether you enjoy it more or at least dislike it lessIm pretty much doing the same but just to clear the freezer (mine will be well into 2017 too caronc lol ) I miss cooking though I really do. I wake up some mornings at the weekend planning lots of things to cook and my favourite reading material is Delicious magazine and Good Food both of which i have on subscription:D So frustrating reading all these lovely recipes and then going to the freezer and getting a bag out for dinner ...roll on cooking time again.
Anyway Christmas turkey, carrots, potatoes and gravy for dinner tonight with some fruit salad using up some scabby looking grapes and strawberries
Enjoy your sunday everyone cooking or not0 -

Morning all.
Caronc..I wasn't up all night I just woke up at stupidly early o'clock (yet again) soaked in sweat after some disturbing dreams and couldn't get back to sleep. Need to change my bedding when I CBA.
I burnt my pizza last night too..I got side tracked watching something on telly. Was really annoyed with myself.
No idea what I'm having for dinner tonight yet, I'm of the PN school of thought, and decide just before I plan to eat.
I've just made a coffee and the bar of chocolate I bought yesterday was staring at me when I opened the fridge to get the milk...I've resisted...so far......;)'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
