In my world that'd mean foil wrapped round some tomato sandwiches and some cheese/tomato, or cheese/pickle sandwiches

Wonder whether that might be an idea for that tasteless bit of chicken?
What would I know - not having eaten meat for decades (apart from 2 or 3 inefficient people mistakenly serving me something with meat in cafes:mad::mad:) - but it sounds like a thought.
Good idea, sadly that would mean buying both just to jazz up something that I got reduced. Do have open mango chutney though so that is definitely being dolloped on top:)0 -

Now has anyone got any suggestions for using up the odd bit of leftover silken tofu I'm going to have - as the packs are 340 gr each and quantity I require for the recipe is 125 gr (that's with "Sighs - yet another cookbook written on the default setting of quantities for 4 people. Meaning I've halved the recipe and will be having it 2 days running anyway - again:cool:"). So there'll be 215 gr of the pack still there to use for something-or-other.
One of my favourite dishes is crispy salt & chilli tofu. Have a look at this recipe which can use silky tofu. See the note at the very bottom of the recipe.

It's similar to what I do, but I toss in a bit of cornflour mixed with Chinese 5 spice. I use finely chopped onion rather than spring onions, and finely diced pepper as well as fresh chilli.0 -

I went to l1dl mainly for four things: chips, hash browns, milk, eggs.
They didn't have any of those! Empty freezers, empty milk shelves.... eggs weren't long-dated enough to bother with today.
.
Your Lidl sounds like mine has become. A desert, empty freezers, no chips or eggs. I wonder if it is company policy, all change, fill with "new" stuff? Time will tell
Given the lack of stuff from Lild today I had intended to get stuff from town, after my spot of volunteer gardening, but that turned out to be a nice diversion in a way and never made it into town due to geting chatting with a lady voluntarily picking up other folks litter.
Not CFO related, but her grandad went down on HMS Royal Oak in 1939 and she was telling me her dad [80 years old] was trying to get details of him. Cue my Family history ex navy volunteering side, they will be popping in Age Concern next week, I hope to get him sorted and hope he will feel easy once he knows. Easyish task with internet, not if 80 & without
Because of the distarction today is mainly repeated food from yesterday
Banana for mid morning snack, cheese salad sarnie lunch, dinner the LO tartlette, with LO instant mash blob with LO HM gooseberry crumble & LO cold custard. Sound exciting:(
May push boat out and have marmalde toast later. I would love scrambled egg on toast right now, but no eggs thanks to Lidl, and I am not going to go out again just to buy eggs
Usual CFO, fridge / freezer full of food but not sure what to have or CBA to make, oh well, sun's out at leastEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Having had scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast, I decided to use up the last of the opened tin of tuna in a sandwich for lunch. When the tuna mountain has finally gone, I don't think I will be buying any for a long while.
At least I have got the goulash for dinner.
I've had a crumpet with chocolate spread just now because dinner won't be ready for a while, but I fancy something else, just not sure what. I fancy biscuits with a cup of tea but I haven't got any in.
I think I will have a root around in the kitchen cupboard for something sweet and just go for whatever there is the most of/needs using up.0 -
As I'd bought a pack of 6 scones .... I warmed one up and spread it with chocolate spread0

Fruit salad for lunch, and crunchy veg salad with grated cheese & walnuts for tea. How exciting! Expect that I may get hungry later on, as there's not much filling in what I've eaten today.
Actually salad was really good, although will probably get sick of it, as have quite a big tub in the fridge to wade through. Amazing how much 1 carrot, 1 onion, 1 small cucumber and 3 different coloured peppers makes up, I just added a few splashes of pomegranate vinegar to stop it getting all dried out, and I like the flavour. Should do me another couple of days or more anyway.
Had a little siesta with the air con on this afternoon. When I got up and went into the hall, the heat hit me with a blast. No idea what temp it is outside, just unbearable, so inside with aircon on. Plenty of water being drunk, although I do feel a wee gin & tonic moment coming on.
Really fancy one of PN's scones just now.0 -
Dinner just finished. To add to all the LOs I added LO lettuce, tom & cuc, plus salad cream.
Now too full to eat the LO crumble & LO custard but maybe scoff later this evening, or it will be left over left overs IYSWIMEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Farway your crumble sounds lush. Add that to my wish list of things that I fancy but won't be having. I like crumble both hot and cold with a dollop of Greek yoghurt or cream. Got a couple of apples left, so maybe an idea to do some crumble in the morning, no chance of gooseberry am afraid.0

Got a bus to the other end of town this morning to pick up a prescription and popped into S*******ys to get fruit and veg.
Had a big salad for lunch and just had a home made burger in a bun and a cold drink.
Beef and mushrooms in a rich stock are in the oven and once cooked and cooled will be turned into either one large pie or a few small ones and then some of it will be frozen.
Fridge is full of raspberries, melon and pineapple, a stir fry pack of veg and lots of yoghurt as well as mange tout, sugar snap peas etc. to have with baked (frozen) salmon fillet later in the week. Determined to make an effort to have fruit and veg and not just rely on sandwiches, toast and tins of soup."This site is addictive!"
