Breakfast was scrambled eggs on toast.
Lunch has just been a mushroom omelette with some salad.
Dinner will be a chicken portion with veg and steamed new potatoes.

I had a hairdressing appointment first thing and was hungry when I got back so had a crumpet and a slice of bread and butter, a bit greedy on top of breakfast and I don't know why I felt so hungry.

I have done some menu planning for the week to try and use up all of the fresh food that I have got in without wasting any, and without having to have the same meals for days on end. I hope it works, we will see.

Tomorrow I am going to take the trolley (still to be named) and go to either Tesco or Aldi and get the few bits that I need for the next week. I will probably go to Tesco because they have got an offers on a couple of staples that I always buy that are bulky.

The only problem with that plan is that if forecast to pour with rain all day tomorrow and for there to be very strong winds :(

Good afternoon ladies :) It's horrible weather here and hasn't stopped peeing down all morning. I have been very idle so far today I must confess. :o but have spent an enjoyable few hours reading and note making from one of my textbooks for next term in September. The four curries (2 rogan josh and 2 jalfriezi) will be made shortly and packed up in the freezer. I'll do the one mass cook off of onions and veg and then divide between two pans and add the chicken and different spice pastes, pasatta and stock until the chicken is cooked through. Out of my pack of 4 chicken breasts this will use 3 and I'm making the last one into a Chinese chicken and mushrooms for tea. I have half a portion of mushrooms from the last Chinese takeaway I had defrosted ready to throw in with the chicken.

Lunch has been marmite and toast :D

Love the thought of being a professional slacker! I have two modes which is either very busy and organised or doing absolutely nothing. I can't blame widowhood or lack of kids around as I've always had this tendency, it perhaps just didn't have time to come out much when I was working 50 hours a week with 3 children, a husband and 2 dogs :rotfl: I intend to enjoy it now that I have the summer off though.

Whoever was the tea guru - Kittie I think? I'm far more plebeian in my tastes and usually go for PG Tips haha but would also choose tea over Prosecco despite my daughter and eldest son virtually keeping Italy's wine industry afloat single handedly! I drink coffee in the morning and move to tea from lunchtime.

Stay dry everyone it's definitely a day for inside jobs.

Because you're not an Expert Slacker like me. I find the easiest ways to do things, rather than "the most attractive/desirable and arty/neat" ways:)

When comparing the two you get the same end results except "it's not flat/so neat" - and - "the end bit won't colour/brown/crisp/cook the same as it bends round". I am awarded ZERO points for presentation, so if there's an easier/quicker way to do something and I'm happy to accept the different end result, I'll go with it.

Reminds me when, years ago, doing a "time & motion" course one tip offered was find the laziest person and get them to complete the set task. The assumption being the lazy one will always find the quickest & easiest and thus cheapest way ;)

Made a round robin shopping trip this morning, in opposite directions but only a couple of miles between them, Morries, Asda & Waitrose. All a bit of a waste of time, just the sort of essentials like milk. For info, Waitrose have Essential 550 gramme cheddar, all types, on offer at £3, which is £5.46 KG. Oddly enough the larger packs are more expensive per Kg so watch out

    No breakfast as usual
Lunch was the rest of yesterday's cold pizza

Then with all this talk of Weetabix cake, plus weather is dull & windy with PN's rain arriving some time this afternoon I thought I would make one an bu66er the weight.

Discovered that I had polished of the Weetabix some time back and likewise SR flour. Probably just as well, now rediscovered I have Lidl bran flakes & faux corn flakes to use sometime, but I do have milk so could have bowls of cereal, that is "could" not "shall"

Weather and fed up with salad prompted me to get a pair of bangers from freezer to leave out & defrost for tonight's dinner, these will be served with oven chips, mushrooms & fried eggs, maybe open some beans, depends how I feel at the time

Fruit & veg score, 1/10, from toms on the pizza :o

Gardening today was just tying the tomatoes to the canes, hardly hard graft. But did notice my tom tapping has worked and embryo toms are now forming :j

I'd not pay that much! :)
4ldi/L1dl both have cheaper choices - BUT - ALSO - L1dl's Weekend Special this weekend (JUST the weekend/2 days) is a big pack at £1.99 for 830 grams

    https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/Offers.htm?articleId=3512
    £2.40/Kg

I missed it last time as I thought it was the week-long offer and went on a Tuesday :)

I knew about the W/e offer, but trouble is the Lidl weekend offers are a real pain here, no chance, queues and often sold out even if really early. Best of luck if you chance it

munchkin, haha a good name, like it

any bits for tea, rye crackers, goats cheese, kiwi and tomato. Small cheese scone and a mini (tiny) bottle of cava. Cannot believe it has gone to my knees already. I am wanting to get through all the left over from christmas, mini bottles, they are going in the fridge tomorrow. Will be giving son two normal bottles of champers to take up to scotland next week, he is driving and we are having a family gathering up there this autumn. I am flying. I am also trying to have a clear out and aiming to only buy one at a time, considered purchases instead of panic mode when I have the gatherings here

This cba is definitely running deep, either that or because I am getting older and more tiring to do stuff. I have a vegan next week for a few days and it is far too tiring to think of food for a sportsman, so I have ordered from my organic producer, pies and casseroles and once they are in the fridge I will rest easy

Mixed plate of stuff to use up everything about to go out of date. Not pleasant but had to be done and, of course, it was all cold stuff bought when the weather was hotter so not even satisfying given it is so yukky and wet here today.

What I wouldn't have given for a bowl of soup, pasta or a baked potato. But what's the betting if I shop for those it will warm up weather wise?

    Quite depressing :(

It will usually be for carrying food, but like you I will probably use it to put things like a picnic in and bits and pieces if going out for the day.

It's bound to warm up if you go and buy that sort of food. I am lucky at the moment, I have a small amount of salad bits and a small amount of veg/potatoes so I can cover all eventualities right now.
