    Good evening everyone,
The sun shone this afternoon so more flowers potted up. :)I think the torrential rain overnight has killed the chard I planted the other day :(I'll see if they recover over the next few days if not I'll get some more started.
I've been a right mucky pup today managed to splatter my top cutting up a mango :o as I didn't want to be a bee/wasp magnet I changed it after lunch by which point a dap of coleslaw had joined it. Of course I hadn't been in the garden two minutes before I managed to tip old smelly damp compost down myself. This time it was a quick brush down and a wipe. ;) I also managed to get compost in my shoes with bare feet in them of course so feet had to be scrubbed along with inside my shoes. I dread to think how much of my dinner I'll end up wearing!

Lunch was a salad sarnie using up the last of the coleslaw followed by mango. Dinner will be as planned earlier. :) I've still got half a mango in the fridge but that will be no hardship to use up.

    Morning everyone,

It's tipping it down here at the moment, and so cold. It feels like autumn to me :(

Breakfast has been scrambled egg on toast.

I have swapped my meal plan around a bit because of the weather. I had planned to use some beef mince for Spaghetti Bolognese on Thursday this week but I'm now craving winter type food because of the weather, so have got the mince out of the freezer and will make a cottage pie instead and have that with some steamed veg. A nice warming dish.

Lunch will be a cheese sandwich, either with salad or I may even do a cheese and onion toasted sandwich instead.

Today I had planned to have some marinated turkey with peppers done on skewers and grilled but will probably now have that on Thursday instead.

I will still be on course to use up the fresh salad/veg that I have in without wasting anything or eating the same meals for three consecutive days so all is good. :D
    Have a good day all.

    same here.

I have decided to go on a rm batch cooking session. Have already prepared one, strips of lamb with aubergine and nice spices plus the usual casserole veg and rice for a few meals is set in the rice cooker to be ready at 12. Tomorrow I will make another meal, I have bacon lardons and lots of turkey stir fry, so will make similar, with tomatoes and without aubergines and herbs rather than spices. It is kind of not freeing space in the freezer as I`ll be putting foil dishes back in. Doh, I`ll have to keep eating these meals

That`s today and tomorrow sorted and soup tonight and then salads every meal after that, to ensure I don`t waste lettuce and cucumber.
  • Weather here not good either. Have even got the central heating back on again:(

Am wondering whether I should make a soup for lunch. Havent got anything in to make it with in effect - but there's always lentil soup (as I've always got red lentils in).

I was just thinking the same thing about making soup! Spicy red lentil as I have red lentils in the cupboard too. I have also brought my blanket from the airing cupboard, where I'd optimistically put it away for summer, back out.

It has only just stopped raining and is dark and miserable outside.

Had crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast as I got a big box for youngest when she was here and lunch was home made potato salad using the raita I made on Sunday and left over baby potatoes with a couple of mini home made sausage rolls made with the potato pastry from yesterday.

I put a couple of meals in the freezer and will freeze a couple of the sausage rolls as well. I took out a couple of steaks and chicken mini fillets from the freezer which are defrosting so will need to think what to make with them.

Ideally I would like to make a meal that will give me one portion and a couple to freeze so maybe a sort of spicy stir fry with rice, noodles or pasta?

It gives me a real kick if I have something home made to give to dds to take home and save them some time when they are madly busy. Older dd said she had a portion of my lasagne the other day and really enjoyed it so very chuffed.

Afternoon folks, like most it has been tipping it down here since yesterday afternoon, it only stopped to to take a breath mid morning, now blowing a gale & sunny

I also changed meal plan to suit weather, having some salad bits in the idea was baked spud & salad, now not sure, could be fish & chips oiked from freezer, or the really CBA option of fish finger sarnie :o

Normal double biscuits mid morning in lieu of breakfast, but I did weaken last night and have a bowl of the bran flakes I re discovered, so that could count as early doors breakfast at a push

For lunch I am getting a bit fed up with always cheese salady sarnie, and fancied something a bit warming as well. Used the last egg up and made a fried egg sarnie plus the last freezer burnt crust was toasted while waiting for the egg to burn, still managed to dribble some yolk on my T shirt though :(

My freezer is starting to get some space in it, it is a no frost one so de frosting is not a problem, if I have fish & chips that will make a frozen fish box shaped space so that seems like best bet a the moment

Thinking of freezer space because I did send for the Iceland bonus card, mainly because for every £20 you put on it they give you a £1, which is 5% and beats my cash back cards hands down. Not that I spend pounds in Iceland but some of it is same price or less, like milk / eggs / butter. The fresh veg in my one is pits so never get that there

Now sun is out time for a bit of mini gardening, hand pollinating my grapefruit bush :j Only been waiting 25 years for it to flower so I now have to do it, my son planted a pip during his student days and I have [STRIKE]neglected[/STRIKE] cared for it since then, lives outside in a pot sheltered of course

I have to hand pollinate due to shortage of orange groves in this part of Hampshire :)

    Good afternoon everyone,
Wet and miserable here so a good excuse to have a bit of a duvet day, winds are forecasted to reach gale force by early evening so I'm happy not to have to venture out.

I had a bit of a gung-ho moment last night. I was emptying the dishwasher and noticed it was a bit whiffy. I couldn't remember the last time it had been cleaned though I wash the filter fairly regularly so decided to sort that. Popped some bicarb, vinegar and a couple of dishwasher tablets in and set the hottest programme, I then rather recklessly popped in some bleach and went off to watch tv. A short while later I went to make a cuppa and walked into a foam-fest and flooded floor..... Much scooping and mopping later I got it under control :D . I now have a very clean dishwasher and floor but won't be doing that again in a hurry :o .

I had leftover turkey & veg from dinner last night so that made an easy lunch. I was going to have a stir fry tonight but in view of the weather fancy something more comforting so I've taken a couple of sausages out of the freezer which I'm going to have with veg, gravy and rice as I cooked extra rice last night. I might spice it up a wee bit with some chilli. The rice was a wild rice mix that had been lurking in my cupboard for yonks and it was really tasty. :)

I ended up defrosting/toasting two crumpets for lunch .... with margarine.

The sausagemeat has defrosted, but I really can't face it. Tummy is making a gnawing pain.... so eventually I will snap and I'll go and sort the sausagemeat into little balls and knock up a chilli/tomato sauce ... and then do some spaghetti. I just hate the idea of touching that raw sausagemeat (or most meats) ... so it's a stand off at the moment.
