I never go to big cities either PN. Been to London three times in my life and came back wondering how people retain their energy living there, its an exhausting and crowded place.
I used to commute to London for work and it was truly knackering - nothing much worse that waiting in a train station at the end of the day, wanting to go home but just staring at the arrivals board with 'DELAYED' flashing across them all... some nights I just felt like crying with frustration.I use a trolley sometimes, a rolser but I still always wear a cross body zipped bag containing my purse. Thieves are so very quick and you don`t see it happening, ask me how I know.
I use a cross body bag all the time - much easier to have both hands free plus your bag is in front of you for better security. Kipling bags are my weapon of choice.:hello:0 -
Wraps I occasionally try, but really can't get on with - they seem hard to eat/chewy and make the experience unenjoyable ... I keep wondering if I'm doing it wrong, but I can't see how I can. Single thickness they're passable, wrap it, or fold/wrap it and you're looking at 2-4x a thickness of something that's like a soft cardboard.

I quite like wraps now and again as a quesadilla - put a wrap in a dry non stick frying pan, cover with grated cheese, chopped onion, chillis, leftover meat.... whatever takes your fancy, put another wrap on top and cook until the underneath is browned. Using a plate and spatula turn it over and brown the other side then serve in wedges. I do it now using one wrap cut in half. Yes it's just a different version of cheese on toast but is a bit lighter and not as doughy. Makes a nice change with some soup for a lunch or tea0 -
Afternoon all,
Another one here that doesn't like wraps or pitta much. I much prefer bread and a sandwich.
This morning I had yogurt/berries for breakfast. Then coffee and cake at a friends. She decided to join me for a walk and we went over to a local market town that has a disused railway line walk, so we had a walk along there and back and then went down to the water meadow to eat our sandwiches. That was a nice pleasant outing.
Dinner will be salmon, new potatoes and salad and a scone for pudding.
I will give some thought to a name for my trolley. It is more than likely to be known as 'the trolley', but I do want it to have a name. All of my cars over the years had names.
I am going to try some proper menu planning next week to try and use up all of the fresh food without wasting anything and without having the same food day in and day out. We will see how far I get with that one.0 -

I ended up eating the tuna/egg pitta earlier than I expected.
Then .... later, I got a crust from the freezer and toasted it - and topped it with sausages/beans/scrambled eggs
And then I had another 25g pot of the cornflakes
I can see the bottom of the packet now, at least... but there are still several portions left0 -

I was talking to a neighbour who also lives on her own this evening and she has given me some cornflakes and a couple of a supermarket own brand Weetabix type biscuits. I think part of the problem may be that I don't like milk much on its own. I never drink it other than in tea or coffee. I only have semi skimmed so may got some full fat milk to have with the cereals I'm not sure yet.0 -

I'll probably stick with honey roast cornflakes unless something magical catches my eye... I'll eat the HRCs until one day I randomly get tired of them
Re weetabix/milk, I gave up milk about 35 years ago as I wasn't using enough in my dark coffee; milk was either gone off/stinking, or I needed to buy a pint, so it was easier to give it up. I started buying milk again just to eat weetabix, when I had a sudden urge to try Weetabix again (having not eaten it for 40 years or so) .... so I have Weetabix in the cuboard (L1dl/Bixie brand) ... and sometimes (2-3x a year) I'll specifically buy a pint of milk and have weetabix a lot of times
I used to "go off" weetabix after I'd put too much milk on and it had a nasty texture as it was all soggy - now I carefully/slowly drip it all round the edges, then in the middle.... until the whole biscuit is moist, but not sodden. One pint does for about 6 portions of 2 biscuits (from memory).
I like drinking milk, but not enough for milk to be a regular item in the house.
It all comes down to the fact that you can't buy/have everything all of the time - and you have to stop buying certain things as they're too restrictive and/or not possible to fit into the general scheme of meals you'll actually eat etc.0 -
Well I'm trying pretty hard PN - ie to have everything in all the time.
Am now in process of adding yet more storage space for food.
Well - when you eat the particular way I do you do need more food storage space than a lot - its all those grains/pulses/nuts/etc/etc....0
