Fancy modern muck
I nearly bought another box of Honey Nut Cornflakes, but decided against it as I've still got half of the last box left.
I plan on bagging up some 25g portions as "snack bags" to be tossed randomly into Trolley Dolley for outings excitement.0 -
moneyistooshorttomention wrote: »Meaning getting it on/off buses?
Yes, I'm having enough trouble with 'how to use a bus' as it is. I used one for the first time in about 35 years this week and to say that it was an ordeal is an understatement.
I got on and waved my newly acquired bus pass at the driver, who pointed to a machine while I stood there 1. looking like an idiot and 2. feeling like an idiot with everyone on the bus looking at me. Then he showed me, that I need to place it over the machine so that it registers like using a contactless credit card, then I didn't know that you had to take a ticket that had popped out of the machine.
When I was sitting there I was looking around to see where I could sit with trolley and there is only space right at the front of the bus near the disabled seats. While I do have a disabled person bus pass I am capable of sitting further back and allowing other people that need the front seats more to use them.
Then it is the getting on and off.
I think I will probably use it more for shopping or going out to places within walking distance, although I wouldn't mind taking it on trains. Like you I have never had a problem getting help with a suitcase.0 -

You'll find a technique that works for you, so you still look cool/hip/trendy and not on your last legs and desperate to pop out for your copy of People's Friend
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I did find this funny, thanks PN I needed a laugh today.
I just feel like I'm on my last legsI don't think I will ever look cool, hip or trendy, I don't think I ever have

Just done a tryout of some new cereals I spotted in Aldi. I saw Paleo Muesli there in Aldi. Duly decided on another food experiment and bought both flavours (fruity and nutty).
Just had some of the fruity one - and 'twas nice:). I'm not a fan of any pre-prepared cereals normally - but thought I'd give it a go and I might prefer paleo ones and I could be sure they're only food. So it has in it sunflower seeds/pumpkin seeds/blackcurrants, redcurrants, coconut, almond, date paste, honey. Just realised that means = no grains. Anyway - tasty way of getting a variety of nutrients - with minimal effort, so handy for CBA days to just have a bowl of that with fruit and some sort of milk/"mylk".
That sounds nice though.0 -
Right, back to today's food.
I grabbed a banana and a slice of toast for breakfast this morning.
Lunch was a cheese salad sandwich.
I can't decide what to have for dinner I have had to revive some broccoli by putting it in a jug of water in the fridge overnight, and I have some cauliflower that is also starting to wilt. As there isn't any room in the freezer and I don't fancy soup at the moment whatever I have will have to be with veg rather than salad to use it up. At the moment I am veering towards some cod and making a parsley sauce to go with it. The other option is using a portion of goulash out of the freezer. I think I will see which one I fancy later.0 -

And Weetabix type cereals make an easy lovely calorie laden cake, as do malt bran flake type cereals. Sort of soak & bung in a loaf tin, chuck in oven, eat. Trust my expanded waist for this tip
Woke up really early, even the birds were just waking up, it was 0430. Tried going back to sleep but failed so up & about by 5.30
Because of the silly start I fancied a real breakfast for once. Made a real pot of tea, with loose leaves and a cosy. Fancied fried egg sarnie, but opted instead for mushroom omelette. Very virtuous
The off to do a spot of volunteer gardening, finished that by 0800, then onto to Asda because no idea for dinner & hoped some wonder inspiration would catch my eye, but just a Smartprice pizza, which may or may not be dinner
Into £land, 20 litre bag of compost safely popped into the trolley, very handy for that purchase
Dragooned into going to a garden centre and force fed a sultana scone with coffee
Lunch was same old cheese salad sandwich, although repetitive I do like them. Could be part of pizza for lunch tomorrow though
Dinner, not really sure, full at the moment with the scone & sandwich.
It could be extreme CBA gluttony and nuke the lurking steamed jam sponge pud which is BBE 6 June, and plop some tinned custard on it to ensure max calories. This seems likely option, there is also the pizza option but that would need oven on which is not a big problem just easier to ping a pud
Sun's out, today's gardening is pot on the herbs and tap the toms, plus look at the ripening cherries in the anti bird cage expectantly, another week should do it, they are starting to colour up now
PS PN Lidl oven chips have gone up, they are either 55p or 57p 1kg when I topped up TuesdayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

That was the compost that did my back in the other week
Yes, I spotted that when I was in earlier in the week, 57p my memory tells me. Having said that, they were reduced DOWN to 50p in ~2015, so I was used to seeing the 50p price as a reduced price, so not surprised they went up again.
Bizarre one today... I grabbed a tin of the 4ldi spuds - I'd grabbed two a week ago. As I was putting it away I noticed the tin's got a different photo on it - so I rolled the two tins round to compare and the newer tin has the same tin weights, but the drained weight is currently showing at 15g more. I wondered if that'll be because new spuds are out and there are smaller ones going into the tins, which can occupy a larger amount of tin room.
I also noticed in L1dl that the tinned tomatoes are now 29p, they were 25p; they're 29p at 4ldi too, so no benefit in buying from one over the other.
I do like the thickness of the l1dl tomato sauce and 4ldi doesn't seem THAT dissimilar in consistency.0 -

Only in chocolate cornflake cakes here!:)0 -
Today I've had:
- portion of honey nut cornflakes
- big tomato in a pitta bread
- half a tin of tuna + a boiled egg/salad cream in a pitta bread.
I'm kind of peckish .... but sick to the back teeth of pitta breads today, so not sure what to do next really.
I'll probably end up nuking myself a hot breakfast0
