Jammy beggah!
Wouldn't it be a great location if one could live near every form of "cheap shop" there was.... I'm near a Works, but it's still a 16 mile return trip, so I'm never in there as it's a very low priority shop for me. Went in there one year looking for "stocking fillers" and managed to find just the right thing, not been back since though.0 -
Afternoon/evening everyone,
I haven't read through the days posts but will catch up in a minute.
I've had a friend from Suffolk down for the day and I had prepared a lasagne with salad for lunch for both of us, so not CFO at lunchtime today.
For breakfast I had some scrambled eggs on toast and I think I am going to have a cheese salad sandwich in a little while for tea. We met another friend this afternoon for a coffee and I did have a sneaky piece of cake then.
There is half of the lasagne left, so I have just portioned it up and put it in the tardis (sorry I mean the freezer) I thought that if I didn't freeze it now there would be the possibility of it becoming breakfast tomorrow.
I will be collecting 'Trolley' from the shop tomorrow. They phoned to say it is now awaiting collection. I just hope I don't injure anyone on the way home with it in the morning. Saturdays in the town are rather busy.0 -
PN it's National fish n chip shop day today. Our chippy is doing a,special offer of fish, chips n.peas for £3.50  Shame I don't do queues, or eat fish lol:rotfl:
My chippy probably won't have any offers on.
It's a bizarre thing, but it's actually one of the best chippies you can get - and the owner/chef has fab past credentials of great note. Their portions are a good size too. It's a wonder I'm not in there more often (probably 4x in 4 years) - except that's easily explained away .... small chips is £1.50 ... or a 1kg bag of oven chips at l1dl is 50p and a Pukka pie at Sainsbobs when on offer is £1. .... that's why I rarely go.
But ... tonight... I just might. They shut at 8 though.
There's an indian just 4 doors along from there ... and, unfortunately, it's one of the worst tasting ever.... which is why I've only been there 3x in 5 years.0 -

So then I headed for the "meals in a tin" - and I had none... except a Fray Bentos pie, which I didn't fancy.
No! those Frey Bentos pies are full of 'regret'...I 'regret' trying them again. I should have left them firmly in my childhood.Good morning everyone. I'm a long time lurker in this thread as I have been preparing to cook for one for the last couple of months.

Breakfast - nutri-brex with almond milk.
Lunch - houmous, celery sticks, cherry tomatoes and cucumber.
Dinner - sweet and sour vegetables with brown rice, for the third day in a row...
Drinks - water, coffee, tea.
It's a good thing I love sweet and sour vegetables lol. I'm glad I'm the kind of person that doesn't mind eating the same thing for days for dinner.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Thank you for all the welcomes.
My lunch turned out to be a peanut butter and jam sandwich followed by the jelly/mandarins combo and a banana. Tea this evening was a lovely sausage pasta which I made this morning along with a keema curry (4 portions) and a spaghetti bolognese (5 portions). Pretty good from a 750g pack of minced beef. I put my usual potatoes, peas and 2 onions in the keema and 3 large grated carrots, onions and celery in the bolognese. I used to do this to stretch the meat out when I was cooking for 5 but am so used to the extra veg now that I don't like meals too purely meaty now. Plus it does me good!
PN - I was wondering while cooking the pasta what is your plan when you have cleared/eaten the contents of your freezer? Will you buy different types of food do you think? Or stick to what you've had in already? I get bored sometimes and am always on the lookout for new ideas. The keema is a case in point I was fed up of chilli.0 -
Good evening everyone,
I made the most of the sunshine and planted up the remaining wall baskets all bleeding ten of them:eek: which if I'm honest was probably five too many for me as I can't sit to do these so I am absolutely done now......
Still 'tis Friday so a good excuse to have a glass of wine and chill a bit.I got on SO Birds Eye Cod in tomato/rosemary sauce so I'm for one of these in a bit with some green beans & peas and no doubt a baked spud. I suspect the cod portion will feel a bit skimpy but 2 would be too much IFYSWIM.
I did quite well with the fish as it retails at £4 for 2 portions which I would never pay however Tesco are doing various products for a £5 just now so I had ordered 3 packs of Birds Eye pollock in tom/herb sauce which must have been out of stock so got these subbed which works better for me as they are in individual bags rather than two fillets + sauce in a tray.:)
Re noodles blimey 40 packs - my cupboard would burst. I tend to get either the Koka or Nissin noodles which are frequently on offer so usually work out about 25p a pack. The Nissin Spicy or Tonkostsu Ramen noodles are really good so I use the sauce packet as a base for a noodle broth though I tend to ditch the Koka sauce base.0 -
