https://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=264788135I've always bought the smart price/value noodles I agree 80p is horrendous for what they are!! I got DS2 some the other week in B&M and they were 5 packs for £1. Much more my type of price ha.
I get these noodles as they are a bit more 'authentic' than the usual shop bought ones and have separate portions of flavour powder, oil and soy paste so you can tinker until you get it just right.
I use the 'subscribe and save' (15% discount) option so they work out just under 30p per pack.

Blimey - 40 packets. Even when I was "eating them a lot" that'd take me nearly 2 years to get through those! And you have to store them in the meantime (another box in the bedroom to trip over).
I used to just always have 3-4 packs of 15-20p noodles in the cupboard when I kept them as a "staple".
I've got sheets of noodles I bought when I decided the packets weren't needed and I could "make what I wanted" by snapping a sheet in half.... that's still cluttering the cupboard with just one sheet of four used up so far.0 -
.... one of my favourite childhood 'treats' which was Campbell's meatballs in gravy. ...
Years ago I used to buy the "half sized cans" at Mr T's, but they stopped making/selling those, so I had to start buying the full sized tins - which is two meals.
I'll buy/try most shops' own brands, I've been using L1dl for the last 4 years simply because that shop's closest. ~40p/can add some rice and there's two meals for 25p a time.
I always get the tomato sauce variety as I tell myself I could make that into a quick Sweet/Sour... but then I never do, I just nuke them as they are and scrape onto a pile of rice0 -

I use them in all sorts of dishes - fry an onion and some green peppers and then add for a stir fry, use them with pasta type sauce, mix with green veg, break them into stew etc. One of my go-to quickies for adding carbs.

Welcome to SunnyG hope you enjoy your visits here, we seem to rub along just fine
Meg72 those 25p lettuce are doing well, mine have all been snipped and eaten but the "stubs" with roots are there and I intend to plant them in a pot as is, second dibs eating
Lidl was nothing exciting, no real YS stuff that I fancied so just bout boring stuff I needed, like bread, bleach. One exception was non YS mushrooms down to 49p, so grabbed them
Nil breakie again, but double bikkies again for mid morning coffee break
Lunch went a bit more healthy and had cheese salad sarnie
Dinner will be the meal for one veggie lasgane, easypop in oven, job done.
That plus my salad at lunchtime should bump up the 10 a day count somehowEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

LOL :rotfl:Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
It's complex .... I've done "everything right" (ish)... I've got the slow cooker, I do have ingredients in the cupboards, I do keep food spends to a minimum (rarely ever buying brands and never going into M&S or Waitrose ... or even the 3 main supermarkets most months).
I've been trying to empty the freezer - and it's close, real close ....
But sometimes you just look at your options and think "You know, you did quite well there... you shifted/ate all that stuff you'd not got round to, you've skimped and eaten all sorts of bizarre combinations just to get through it and use what you've got"....
And then it's Friday night and you think "I ... kind of .... feel like .... going out for some New Food.... "
Not sure what's for tea tonight ... I could go to 4ldi for a random microwave ready meal, or I could visit the chippy ... the world is my Cheapskate Oyster really0 -
PN it's National fish n chip shop day today. Our chippy is doing a,special offer of fish, chips n.peas for £3.50  Shame I don't do queues, or eat fish lol:rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
