Just had the pizza in the end, peak CBA arrived so planned the H / E & chips feast for tonight, but plans have changed since Asda mooch this morning
I know what every one means by spud overload, I also bought the Lidl spuds on offer, still have some but I find they keep for yonks in the fridge, gradually whittling them down. If not boiling them [and then leaving them forlorn & forgotten in the pan] I scrub and bung them whole in the Actifry, sort of posh round chips, must be healthy 'cos still got skins on
One more banana used from the 20p bunch, this lot are not as black as some I've had, thus the make a banana cake to avoid wasting, or in my case waisting them, is not niggling at me. See what I did there?
Normal Asda mooch this morning, needed milk as it happened anyway. Something seems to have happened at Asda, or my one anyway
Loads of in date salad veg reduced, not YS, just slashed shelf edge prices everywhere. Perhaps they believed the lying weather forecast of warm & sunny and ordered loads of salad stuff?
I picked up, all 25p each, punnet cherry toms, 3 sweet peppers, red /yellow / orange pack, tray of living cut & come again salad leaves, and spring onions, YS at 12p. That's me sorted for salad
That lot changed tonight's planned ham / egg / chips to ham salad, probably still with chips as I have been infected with habit of salad cream on chips and it should go well with that meal
Of course I could use some of the bargain spuds but much easier to open the freezer
Lunch was bacon lettuce & tom sandwich
All very healthy fresh veggie today, but weather is really pie & chips with stodgy suet pud & custard type of weather, even put my gloves and woolly hat on this morning
It was the same at my Asda lovely lot of reduced salad. I got the same as you plus a couple of lazy lettuce at 10p and a pack of egg noodles at 10p. I`m going to split the living salad and plant outside. Also got a reduced Burgen loaf, 50p but had to pay full price for my Bananas, cant remember the last time I had to do that, but not complaining lol.Slimming World at target0 -
Probably not unless it was tiny due to my mobility problems. Elderly pooch was fine with the odd short walk by my son or nephew but I couldn't exercise a young dog properly and I don't want to take on an old dog
Aww that's a shame. I wasn't too sure about getting another when Candy died, but Buddy was pining n not eating. Initially I was going to get a rescue staffy, but Buddy was terrified of the ones I went to see, so I got Bonnie, n she has settled in really well
I too have limited mobility due to severe osteoarthritis in my knees, and nerve damage in my lower legs, but manage little walks,n have a huge garden that she races round lol"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I know the feeling I got "attacked" by a jar of beetroot earlier - place looked like something from a bad horror movie. I'm still finding splatters
I can top that! I got pounced on by an open bag of turmeric, that some idiot had put in the top cupboard! Everything was stained yellow for weeks:rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I don't mind so much getting stuff on white tops though tumeric's a beggar to get out. At least you can bleach them. It's when it hits light coloured stuff.......0

I dropped an entire plate of curry on my lap once, while sitting down.
Thought I was leaning on the table, when it was the lip of the plate hanging over the edge.
Huge/perfectly round/yellow and brown stain on a cheap light blue dress.
Vanish worked! I had limited washing opportunity - so had to wash it in cold water in a bathroom sink ... took about 3 goes to get it immaculate/as new.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Lovely and sunny again but definitely not as warm yesterday though pleasant with a cardi on.:)
I had toast, cottage cheese and tomato for breakfast and I'm treating myself to a HM prawn & avocado salad with marie rose dressing for lunch using some of the lovely prawns I got at the market a few weeks ago. :DI've a tub of natural yoghurt to use up so going to make a tandoori chicken thighs and a veggie curry to use bits up. I'll have these tomorrow so the chicken can marinade overnight. No idea about tonight though will see what I fancy later. I hope to get a bit more done in the garden later but just gentle stuff as I think I over did it yesterday as quite unsteady on my feet today.:(0 -
I have at times wondered just how many lettuce plants are in those trays of living Salad. Now I know, TOO Many. I decided to spit and plant the tray I got yesterday for 25p. Ive planted up 30 and its really not made a dent in it, I would say about a fifth. Its very chilly here and my fingers are cold so not doing anymore today.
Heard some great news this morning we are getting an Aldi at our Town centre, will be opening Autumn next year. YAY will have an Asda and Aldi within a few minutes walk.
No breakfast this morning as up late. Pilchards on toast with salad for lunch and as its cold Chilli concarne for Dinner and leek and potato soup in the slow cooker. HA HA bet we have a heat wave tomorrow cos Ive got soup.Slimming World at target0 -
I am the jammiest of jammy persons when it comes to second-hand cook-books. I've just had an absolutely pristine, as new copy of The Glasgow Cook Book delivered for the princely sum of 1p plus postage.
This follows hot on the heels of my Maw Broon's Cookbook which arrived in the same condition for the same price.
I've given both books five star reviews; if you fancy a copy yourself, I hope you can find them for the same price.
Edit: Brilliant news on the Aldi, meg72! I couldn't manage without my Aldi and Heron Foods. Heron haven't made it as far south as Shropshire yet, but perhaps one day. Farmfoods are the national equivalent that is similar.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I had porridge with blackberries for breakfast this morning and have eaten too many biscuits and cakes where I volunteer throughout the morning. There is always someone bringing in goodies to go in the kitchen for us all. This is all well and good but I tend to pick at them and as has happened now, I don't feel like any lunch. Nice as it is, it isn't very good nutrition wise.
This evening I am going to do a chicken breast and make the mushroom and mustard sauce that caronc posted the recipe for. I have got an odd assortment of veg that I will have with it that needs to be used up today.0
