I changed my mind! Thinking about what's in the freezer, I remembered I still have most of a frozen bag of quorn mince I bought about a year ago ... so I decided to make a spagbol for one - by eye. No recipe and I knew I didn't have the ingredients any recipe would give me, so I made it up.

OMG that was nice.... compared to the usual 75p frozen meals I buy anyway (as a reference point). I didn't make enough spag, so it was bol overload .... but the taste far exceeded my expectations as I was shoving stuff into the mug in a random fashion.

Winner. Probably cost me about 12p in total to make too. So I'll never ever buy another ready spag bol again!

    I like M&S burgers.

I went swimming and then to Waitrose, they do thai marinaded chicken in their 3 for £10 range but the last two times I've gone specifically to get some they haven't had any. ..............

I second that, tried one of mine this lunchtime, very nice, can't comment on flavour because I topped it with the last cheese slice and flourescent yellow mustard

Also spotted the fried chicken things in M & S yesterday as part of the 2 for £10 offer, and nearly bought them, never had them before and hated the only KFC bucket stuff I ever tried so was not rushing to ever try fried chicken things, but may give it a go from M & S one day

I had the burger out of planned sequence because Lidl had RFQ a pack of 4 cheese topped baps 45p, so they went into the trolley with other items, some neede, like milk & eggs, other, like red onions on offer not really needed for now but will keep for yonks

The burger filled me up, not too sure about dinner, may be another burger and the rest of yesterday's Asda Bistro mixed salad leaves, or perhaps sardines on toast which sounds temptingly right up CBA street at the moment

PN shame about parking charges, I must be in a lucky position, I could pay for parking but most of the shops, including Asda, M & S, Lild have free parking, and Waitrose is easily walkable from free pub car park [I do have coffee in pub, so do not feel guilty at all]. not very MSE 'cos I know I could get free coffee in Waitrose, but I would rather sit in pub with mates thank you

Now have a "problem" with vouchers from Morrison's just plopped through door, and for once I do not have to spend £50 or similar to qualify, they are actually on stuff I buy, like fruit / veg, bread counter [not sure if my doughnuts count in there], and ready meals, I like theirs, could use them this weekend in my normal Sunday mooch there, if they have not increased prices to suit the money off that is ;)

PS PN the mention of ginger beer plant brought it all back, we had one, I expect many did because after bottling the plant had to be divied up, give some away and reuse the rest. A bit like friendship cake,, there was a spell of that a year or so back

Oh gingerplants my grandpa used to keep one in a covered bucket in the shed and he made the best gingerbeer:) At Christmas he used to make the kids "cocktails" of a smidge of advocaat, ginger beer, Rose's Lime cordial and a maraschino cherry on a cocktail stick we felt ever so grown up and sophisticated;)

Friends came over for visit this afternoon and brought me some avocado oil and Gouda from Lidl. The oil makes a lovely salad dressing but I must have a noodle and see what else it might work with, I can see it going well with prawns and chilli.:)

Kittie thanks for the tip re the sourdough I suspect it may remain one of these things that I don't attempt. I do the reverse of you for a slightly "fermented" loaf. I mix the water, yeast, a tsp of sugar and 100g of the flour and leave covered in a big bowl on the counter for 18 or more hours and continue as normal it gives the loaf a lovely taste :)

I don't buy food from M&S that often a) for cost and b) I can't get to it but I do think some of their deals are as good as the other SMs and the quality is always reliable. My nearest Waitrose is 30+ miles away and they don't deliver down this way or I'd try them. That said Lidl and Aldi are pretty decent especially their cheeses, cold cuts and pickles. The only one I don't use is Asda- I had a couple of really bad on-line delivery experiences with them which is probably more a local issue than the company as such but it put me right off. I got a good sub in my Tesco order today, I had ordered the small tub of their "Finest coleslaw" which was unavailable they subbed it with the large one. It's not huge and the use by is good so I don't think I'll have any problem using it up:)

Randomly decided to do some freezer emptying - so had the final burger (pack of 4) and the 3rd of 4 bread rolls I froze about 3 weeks ago. Served with a fat slice of cheese and a spoon of a tomato/chilli chutney. Didn't toast the bread roll; didn't melt the cheese.

Sounds tasty- I do like a burger in a soft untoasted roll :)

Went to buy cans of pop for DGS and struck lucky for the reduced.

Strawberrys for 30p and kiwis for 35p. Bought 3 lots of strawberrys and 2 packs kiwi. Made fruit salads for freezer.

Dinner was half a ys pizza, 1.00 instead of 2.60 and salad.

I'm starving! I think I forgot to eat tea.... I can't remember if I had tea or not.

I can remember toast/chocolate spread this morning and I can remember spag bol at lunchtime.... but I have no memory of eating since. I did have some sweeties and that might've made me forget to eat.

So I'm going to have to think about that, so I can at least know why I'm hungry ..... and if I should make some effort to eat something.

Not that I CBA to eat to be honest.... not even one of those 2 plums seems interesting.

Ooh yes I did! How on earth did I forget that?? It was gorgeous.

Breakfast this morning will most likely be scrambled eggs on toast.... with or without the beans is the question. I'd LIKE beans ... but can I find the motivation to open the can?
