Cooking for one

Afternoon everyone,
That's the allotment part of my garden transformed so will be much more manageable for me. I can't stop smiling so definitely worth every penny to get someone to sort it out:D
Brunch was crusty bread with cheese and coleslaw and I've a bit of rump steak out of the freezer which will be briefly shown a hot pan later. I've got a minted lamb shank in the SC for tomorrow, I prefer to cook it the day before so I can take the fat off the stock as I'm not keen on "greasy" gravy IFYSWIM.
Some nice sounding food all round be it low cost or more expensive. I vary greatly in how much a meal cost from pennies like dhal to more expensive treats like tonight's steak so I generally stay in my budget over the course of a month. Being stuck at home most of the time (with the consequent reduction in income) means tasty, interesting food has become much more important to me on a daily basis as I enjoy planning what I'm having as much as the end result.0 -
farway oops I didn`t finish the long name, sorry yes karcher is right and I was confusing. I hope it is the kitchen but nevertheless money is a big issue for many singles
I have quickly made the berries/kefir shake, got very busy clearing `stuff` again but so enjoyable when I see spaces being made0 -
I popped out .... as you do. Went to a shop to buy a specific item I saw some days ago and they've sold out. Bummer. It's a garden-sorting-out-gardening-sort-of-item. Oh well ... never mind.
I bought some drill bits .... hurrah. I can now use the drill I bought - the drill that came with a screwdriver end and not a "bit" - which is why I was failing to drill any holes with it
I grabbed my "favourite" beans, I get lower salt/sugar ones, in packs of 4. Not overkeen on Asda's (95p), these are Sainsbobs (£1.15).
Also had a wander round Poundland ... £4 lighter when I left there.... but I have got a nifty bucket thing that's perfect for hand washing small items, which was on my "must get something ..." list so that was a planned expense. Also bought some of those plastic microwave lidded takeaway tubs, hoping to use them to organise the pastas and stuffings etc.... but, like everything, when you actually go to use them they are the wrong size, or something.... in trying to tidy up over-stuffed areas, storage solutions are neater, but then don't contain all the stuff you started with ... so I've abandoned that idea of tidying in that way for now.... shut the door and left it all as it was....0 -
I popped out ..... back now with a pack of 6 sausage rolls.
3 are now awaiting their turn in the fridge.
3 are hot and on a plate in my hand.0 -
PN - I do that all the time with buying things that are the wrong size. Usually I think 'oh, the smaller one will do', then end up having to use two of them, so a false economy compared to just buying the bigger one.
Hopefully today's food intake is finished - I've been trying to stick to 16:8, where you only eat for an eight hour window each day. I've got 49 minutes left...
For tea I had the chicken and stir fry. The chicken ended up a bit burnt on the outside, in the seconds it took me to turn away, open the bag of stir fry and tip that into the other pan. I'll have to be more careful next time, probably try a lower heat.
I also had a small Lindor chocolate egg. I'm quite pleased that I bought three on Thursday and it's the only one I've eaten so far, where even a week ago they'd have been gone within half an hour of getting them home.
I just need to finish the last dregs of a spinach based smoothie. Slightly less appealing than the chocolate...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -

The bag should've already been opened and ready to go.... right there....
Never turn your back ....0 -

It was right there next to the cooker, although not opened. Like I said, it burnt in seconds.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
