Cooking for one

Morning Oneskis
How is everyone on this gorgeous day?
Well I survived my book club and more importantly they all seem to have survived my cooking for 10(actually 12 turned up ) No calls about food poisoning yet
I feel the quantity of prosecco that was consumed may also have helped.
Not too bad on left overs ...there is enough curry for maybe 3 more meals for me but the surprising success was my 3 bean chilli which I made for our gluten free veg lady and that went like a train so only one maybe two portions left.
Using the disposable plates and bowls was inspired as after a sweep with a bin bag my house is back to normal
Karcher I cant lie I didnt actually totally finish the book but I had read enough to nod intelligently and throw in the odd comment myself :rotfl: the good news is that the book is really just an excuse for a gang of girls to get together drink prosecco Must try harder for next month though.
Kittie  glad you are on board and it sounds like you have the same issues we all do when it comes to cooking for one. I find it really annoying when the expert old stylers tell us how to manage our lives then tell us all about what there OH/kids have eaten. You really do have to be doing the cooking for one thing night after night after night to understand the groundhog effect and the lack of desire for batch cooking and freezingI think thats why I love cooking for others though it gives me the chance to be normal and cook a normal meal
My CBA meals are beans on toast/cheese and pickle sandwiches/crackers and cheese/tomato soup /sausage rolls/pork pies...nothing green there then
PN I eat my cereal dry too (allergic to milk) and the best dry snack has to be honey nut cornflakes
Meg that bacon looks delicious and what a bargain:)
Right best get on then sorry for the long rant0 -
Morning everyone
meg72 - that's a fine looking piece of gammon what a bargain:)
I need to make a big pot of ragu today for lasagne at the weekend, family over for my son and dad's respective birthdays and that was the requested meal:cool:
Apart from a ham salad baguette at lunch time as I have a slice of cooked ham to use up I've no idea what the rest of today will feature. Something easy no doubt will have a rake later and see what I fancy:)0 -
Meant to say as well I have a box of 6 gorgeous cup cakes from my friend who came along last night...cant freeze....will go off very quickly....I guess todays food is cake based
(and thats one of the positives of cooking for one....you can

Interestingly on the subject of weight the only time I get weighed is at my 6 monthly monitoring appointment with the nurse which happened this morning, she had a moan at me that I've lost three pounds and how you've got to be careful with that which is all very well and good but six months ago it was you've put on five pounds we can't be having that. I feel that I can't really win, especially given that ultimately my size hasn't changed since I was fifteen.
Got a sausage roll and some fruit in my lunch box, will see how the day goes.0 -
My weight is stable, i can even lose weight when i'm not stressed (or eating leftovers).
Back to the Slimfast for me for a couple of days i think. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Well have a noodle in the fridge /freezer so pork chop tonight, I've a parsnip needing used so will steam that with some carrot and broad beans & if I cba will make a wee creamy mustard sauce to go with it:)
I'm trying not be obseessed with watching my new electricity smart meter - it could become my new hobby if I let it :eek:0 -
Lunch today, yesterdays clear veg soup, added miso and edamame pasta, all in one pan. I forgot I had the pasta and that is going to make every soup meal easy (and better) so will make veg soup for three days next time. I have a strip of pork belly out for this evening and will use left over green veg and hm and home grown, part roasted parsnips
The soup is such a good way of using frozen green beans from the allotment. I am happy today, feel like I am eating sensibly after two days of `whatever`. Will follow soup with easy peeler and a fresh fig and a couple of squares of dark chocolate, then a short cycle ride0 -
