I had those on my Xmas List. After Xmas I had them on the "never buy again" list. I got my crackers out, my marg, my cheese .... and the second I bit into the cracker it was all over the plate in pieces.

Happened with every one, so I decided to never bother again.

Yeah, I bought my first leeks last year; then I froze them as I still hadn't got round to them. I eventually shoved them with a bunch of other veg into the slow cooker and thought ... "don't buy those again". It did STINK for DAYS!

I know what you mean about the crackers, but I had a craving for them. It'll probably be a year before I buy them again.

Leeks...well they are completely off the menu for ever more :(

I think steaming or stewing are the worst offenders- gently fried in a lot of butter and they are not so pungent :)

I wonder if I could get to 10 of ANY food in a day.... that's probably the root of the problem.

Today: pitta bread, scrambled egg, a banana, a potato, 1/2 tin beans, cheese.

There's the root of the problem .... 6 items!

Had some bake from yesterday earlier, now having some chocolate cake with cream. I'm out of oranges which are by far my favourite fruit I'm hoping there's still some nice ones at the green grocers tomorrow the ones at Mr T did not tempt me to part with my money.

Dinner tonight was a filling but not terribly inspiring chicken pie, oven chips, peas, corn and gravy. Still brought me to a "could do better" 3/10 LOL:)

    ... oranges ...
I've nothing against oranges, but I saw an article the other day that made me think ... it said that many people think the best place to eat oranges is in the bath as they're so mucky - and I thought about it and yes, they're mucky. You dig your finger nail in and it's all sticky juice and pith and picking out pips .....

Also, you have to buy a bag of them to get the best price - and I wouldn't mind trying one maybe, but not a bag...although I'd prefer satsumas.

I did look for some satsumas at Xmas, but failed - shops were selling clementines and "easy peelers" - but they never said what easy peelers were.

I like satsumas because, if I'm not wrong, they're the ones with the loose skin - and I love pressing all the way round them before I open them, and feeling the inner white membranes breaking away from the inside of the skin.

Even so, even though it was Christmas, I'd still have only wanted to buy 1-2 though ...not a whole s0ddin' net or box.

:rotfl:You can't say that - it's one of the few things that will grow reliably in my garden:rotfl:- ie weather doesnt defeat it/slugs and cabbage white butterflies don't eat it/etc.

I find them pretty handy - both as leeks per se and as a substitute for onions.

I was probably exaggerating just a tadge

I like leeks but these were especially pungent ones...next time (maybe in the next decade:p) I'll not steam them but saute them in butter.

The reason I have nothing to eat today is because I am pondering the problem today.

I figure that if I'd worked out a Plan A of food yesterday - AND written it down and stuck it on the worktop - I'd know what I was eating and get on and do it ....

If I thought today about tomorrow I could identify things missing and have the chance to go and buy them.

Realising this is not a step .... it does not mean I will change. It just means I've realised my weakness.

    I have pitta breads to eat - ate a cheese/Branston one last night (10/10 there.... ) ...

Breakfast today will probably be a scrambled egg in a pitta, splash of brown. Lunch will most likely be a chilli pizza topped with some chilli, red onions and red or green chillies.... and a little grated Mexican cheese (bought for Xmas, not touched yet).
