Drifting

Options
Hi guys

Does anyone drift here? If yes do you think it is safe to drift in car parks or big store parks?

What will happen if police comes and catches u while doing it?

Why not try it and let us know ;)

Section 59 is a possibility if caught as is a wrecked car or injuries.
  • Just so you know, laws about dangerous driving apply in public places, not just roads, so you might get rather more than a section 59 notice, unless the event is authorised by one of the recognised governing bodies. It seems unlikely a gathering in a carpark will be.

    Court injunctions against them.

My first thought was ..."how can this be an MSE topic?" but then I realised that with cheap enough tyres drifting may be unavoidable.
  • Round here in the West Midlands, they've got high court injunctions against car meet ups. This even includes driving in convoys, rather than drifting in a carpark. IMO if you want to do this, hire a track or private area and drift to your heart's content.

Well it depends on a lot of things....

    1) Do you have the landowner's permission to be there/ practice drifting? (I'm guessing probably not - unless a recognised club has pre-agreed with the owner)
    2) Are you causing excessive noise/disturbance to local residents and passers-by?
    3) Are your vehicles road legal? They don't need to be if you trailered them there but as soon as you return to the public highway...

Save up your pocket money. Go to Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey. Pay for a driving experience and ask for drifting lessons. If you're good/safe enough - they'll let you try it with an SLS.
I need to think of something new here...

Always interested in this. Isn't it over 3 vehicles?

Does it apply to the police when they park in a car park with 5/6 vehicles planning their next drugs bust or hard vehicle stop?
