You still pay pretty much about the same price though, as standalone broadband is quite a bit more expensive than if you take broadband with a phone line from Virmin media. So you're still paying for the "rental" of the line except it's not billed as a seperate item. It still costs the same amount for them to upkeep as it does if you don't have a "phone line".
I pay £32pm for 100 meg bb only (get 105 on Speedtest). Used to pay about £70 for phone and tv but never used the phone and on callining them they told me that 90% of what I watch is on Freeview so I got rid of it instantly, I think £32 is expensive but it is half the price of what I was paying previously plus I am no longer plagued by constant ppi calls. My friend runs a small company that supplies broadband to houses via 5GHz wireless and can do so over a 20 mile range.Tell us more ......
It's not impossible to make that distance, but would need a few hundred quid worth of hardware, for example 75 foot masts at each end, with aimed dishes on, and no obstacles in the line of sight.
Someone else can calculate the dish diameter, as I won't guess what the output power would be.0 -
