Vodafone Fibre BB without Landline - starts from £25pm.
Except that you still have a landline, it's just not shown as a separate item on the bill and as I understand it has no operational voice service.

Yes you can get BB without line rental:

Edit: whether it's cheaper or not another matter. You can get Sky unlimited ADSL for just the cast of line rental (£17.40 a month) for up to 19Mbps depending on your location.

No you can't. In those cases the line rental is just bundled into the total price and not separated out. You still pay it. It is just hidden.

Not unless you get a 4G router but the monthly costs for high data are extreme.

Yes you can, Virgin fibre optic.

how do you think your broadband gets to your property ?

with bt you pay line rental and you broadband gets to your property down your BT line, if you do not make calls on your line then you will not pay any call charges but every time you use the internet then you are making use of your BT line to send and receive data

I get fibre to the cabinet and then co-axial to my house. No line rental (there is a line existing but certainly not in use and i do not pay for it.

Assuming youre talking directly about vodafone bb? My house had no active phone line (for data or voice) and i do have pretty fast broadband.

To the OP, you can (in some areas) get wifi (assuming your talking about broadband in you home) without a landline. This will either take advantage of the mobile network (3g, 4g), fibre to the cabinet with coaxial or in rare cases fibre to the property.

Essentially your not talking huge difference in prices, the no line rental options are normally more expensive than the typical BB options, add the line rental and the prices normally come out pretty similar. The mobile network options can be a little cheaper but you generally sacrifice speed.

Yes you can, virgin fibre optic uses FTTC then coaxial cables to the house.

You still pay pretty much about the same price though, as standalone broadband is quite a bit more expensive than if you take broadband with a phone line from Virmin media. So you're still paying for the "rental" of the line except it's not billed as a seperate item. It still costs the same amount for them to upkeep as it does if you don't have a "phone line".

To be precise (Vodafone): there is a physical landline connection from the cabinet to the home, but no landline service is provided on it, and no landline services are billed. The connection is used solely for a FTTC BB service.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the ambiguous wording the OP has used, but not clarified... it's quite likely that they are talking about not paying for LL they don't use, rather than being overly concerned about whether a cable physically enters their home or not.

Which is exactly what i said above.

The question asked was it possible? The answer is yes. You said, "not unless you get a 4g router" which is incorrect. You can get a 3g router or get virgin media broadband only (i think theres some smaller companies that offer broadband only too but not sure about there connections/lines).

So my answer was along the lines of, yes you can get wifi without paying line rental but youll be paying roughly similar prices for broadband with line rental.

I got a slightly discounted rate on broadband only which made it cheaper than broadband and a phone line at the time. They did contact me offering something like 50p cheaper a month to take out a broadband and phone line but i didnt want to reset the 12 month contract.

So i do have a broadband only and have no phone line (nor am i billed for it). Not as good value for money i suppose but its an arrangement im happy with.

What youre saying is a bit like saying if you buy a VW Polo youre paying for a Buggati Veyron. Ok the money might be offsetting the losses of the Buggati Veyron, but you certainly will not be using or driving one.

sadly virgin along with all the other cable companies are cherry pickers and will only provide service in high population areas where they are going to see the best returns from their investment

anybody outside urban areas with high population numbers are excluded by virgin so not an option for many

In that case you pay Virgin's line rental which again is all bundled into the price and not a separate line item. Line rental covers the maintenance costs of the the line to your house whoever owns it. If you use a physical line to your house you pay to use it. It doesn't matter if it is a Virgin, Openreach, or Kingston (if you are in Hull) cable.
