Just a dozen eggs for me today £2. I'm eating out for lunch but that's paid for already (birthday voucher from friend). So still looking good for the target. Everything else is planned in.

  • Oooh, yum, Islandmaid!

£60.20 spent at the market today, which is the vast bulk of the food needed to get us into March. However I do need to top up on one or two basics, so a supermarket will be visited at some point over the weekend, and we'll need bread on Monday. But we should still be within the budget, without damaging anyone's gut lining - please excuse me if that's TMI!

Oh Island maid, those look amazing!

Still haven't decided what I'm doing for our pancakes on Tuesday, but am seriously tempted by the Nutella ones doing the rounds on Facebook! Yes, I am a 5 year old trapped in a... considerably older than 5-years-old's body :A :D

    Currently at £230.96/£200.

I am hoping tomorrow is payday (my payday is the 27th but for some reason if the 27th falls on a Monday I usually have it in my account the Saturday before, but this is not a guarantee)

I have travelled home to see friends and family leaving my OH at home alone, and he may just treat himself to something at the shops so I can't declare just yet. I really hope this is the end of the spends for this month.

I have had an 'Everyone already knew this' revelation that I should food plan BEFORE i do a food shop and not the other way round.

I have had a look at the next months food calendar and I have divided up the days into 'SUNDAY (Traditional Sunday food) INDIAN (Saturday or Friday is always an Indian) HOME (Both my OH and I will be eating together) and MAKE YER OWNS (The name comes from an expression of my Dad's and means that on those days my OH and I will be eating separately) so I now know how to plan my food shop around that.

Islandmaid! And you Meg72! What are you doing? I am eating no sugar or carbs and all afternoon I have been desperately trying not to think about pancakes since seeing the pic! They look fantastic but they are too tempting.

Right I'm off outside to rummage through the storm debris and try and retrieve most of the perspex roof panels from my greenhouse that are missing to try and resist.

Note to self, don't leave OH home alone without strict spending instructions.

I asked him to let me know if he does any shopping while I'm away. He called me and said he did a food shop.

'How much did you spend?' I asked

    '£20' he replied

    '£20!!!!!!' I exclaimed.

It turns out he had bought spaghetti (we already had spaghetti), cookies (we had biscuits in the tin) and a few painting canvasses which I told him weren't being included on the food budget.

He is sending me pictures of the receipts and I will do what is hopefully the last update on the food budget spreadsheet

  • I went shopping in Aldi intending only to buy the minimum to stay under budget for the month, then realised I needed to feed DS3 packed lunches over the weekend and Monday, and that the cats needed their (non Aldi) catfood, so ended up spending more.
At least I will not have to go shopping again until the end of next week, and payday is Monday:j
