Paid £50 for a fairly big shop yesterday but as it is for this month I will charge it to February. I thought I had put myself down for £200 but as there are a few culinary issues please can you change it to £250. Also the slight underspend of last month will help so I can afford more this month.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

After a successful January coming in way under budget, I am going to reduce my February budget to £400 and try to come under that! I am going to transfer my budget for groceries and petrol onto one CC and use that card just for this. Anything left over can go onto next month, thereby reducing my monthly payment.

This is for 2 adults, 3 kids, a rabbit and includes food, cleaning and toiletries.

    Good luck people!

  • Spent £1 on milk this morning. Digestives aren't going to last til the weekend but that's entirely my own fault. So far have spent £9.39.

Popped out to Asd* this morning, I was hoping to buy Surf laundry detergent, some branches have it in clearance for 88p but no such luck for me. My son has been taking grapes to college with his packed lunch but he's taken the whole punnet and sharing with friends!!! Well no more, I bought 5 small containers for £1 and will give him one of those instead, in total a £3.50 spend.

  • Happy wednesday everyone!

It’s incredible how quickly little things add up. The other day I had £12.28 remaining and with this sum I ‘confidently’ popped into to the supermarket to get bottle of water, few ingredients for my friend’s birthday cake and much desired cup of take away coffee. Even with using some of my supermarket points for payment, it added up to £7.05 :D and I thought I am just getting ‘this cheap little thing’. An other three days to go until my 'new week' starts :T

    Good luck!

Shopping is definately addictive. I used to be the same, but I replaced it with something else - saving & being frugal. Believe me, that too is also addictive, but better on the purse. I get such a kick seeing how many meals I can make, without shopping. Doesn't always work like that, as I do have a massive cupboard surplus, from when I used to shop excessively with Approved Food, but have run the freezer down (thankfully). If you want, say im not going to shop for a week, or give yourself a £5 budget for milk etc, and then see how long you last. Don't beat yourself up though, you are trying to tackle so many things, you should be proud of that fact. Good luck. xx

Thank you so much! That's a really lovely post :)
I AM changing a lot at the moment - my house is really starting to look cleaner and tidier thanks to following FlyLady, and my boyfriend is in theory moving in soon so I'm a bit stressed about all that plus I never seem to have enough hours in the day and also one of my rats has bad tumours and I'm treating her for them hoping she won'tneed an operation as I'm not sure she'll survive it :( on top of work full time and stressing about money!!

Anyway, grocery wise, I need tobuy some pasta on Thursday or Friday but otherwise have all I need.

Last night was Chinese 5 spice fried rice with sweet potatoes, which I had with Fry's chicken style strips - leftovers for lunch today, very healthy and yummy and quite frugal.

Tonight is wedding soup with beans balls and kale. Mum is over for film night.

I have 4 portions of home made minestrone and one more portion of the rice, plus everything to make cauliflower cream pasta ( except the pasta as I forgot I ran out!)

Had to edit - just clicked off here after posting and went on daily mail (I know, I know but it's light lunchtime reading at work), anyway top article was this! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4179374/Mother-shows-feed-family-just-1-day.html

First shop £28.18. More than planned but the fishmonger had halibut so I am treating myself to that tonight instead of a takeaway. Much cheaper.

Big on-line shop today so £58/£100 spent. I think I might have been a bit hasty in chopping £10 per week of off my budget but we'll see. Did need to restock on loo rolls, laundry stuff and bird food which bumped it up a good bit and bought 2 jars of Kenco decaff as on special. Apart from fresh bits and dog food I should be pretty much there for the month so budget might still be do-able.
