Spent £96.37 over weekend so need to update sig for final time this month.

I'm going to declare January at £231.12 and move into Feb as today will be an NSD

Low spend was achieved by the fact we swapped the freezer over so basically lived and ate from that for most of the month.

    Going for £400 in February
Thank you to the keepers of the thread and all the brill ideas posted.

I made the Mary berry potato leek and cheese pie last night that was in the you mag last week it was really nice. Dh has the left overs for lunch today.

I'd like to join again for February please. It will be a very short month for me, since I'll be on holiday for half of it. :j

So I'll set my target at £120 which is half of January's budget. This is for food, drinks, toiletries and household items for myself + OH.

    Hi all

Thanks as always to Coxy, zippy and lynnejk for running the thread.

After going over budget consistently I am raising it slightly to make it more manageable and will stop reducing in big chunks as I keep not sticking to it!

Therefore, I would like to set £160 for February please.

I have done a big grocery shop so far, plus an extra one (why oh why am I so out of control!), plus a fake meat shop (let's face it, most of it was entirely not needed), plus an extra little top up shop today because of some stuff they didn't have last Thursday. Therefore I'm already over half way through my budget, BUT I have got most of the staples in as a result of those spends, so we'll see.

    Date.......Shop......Amount.....Remaining form £160 Budget
26 Jan.....T35c0.....£33.49.....£126.51 (Main Grocery Shop - some stuff wasn't there)
28 Jan.....T35c0.....£22.75.....£103.76 (Extra Shop - off plan. REGAIN CONTROL!)
28 Jan.....H&B.......£23.53.....£80.23 (Fake Meat things - frozen - not really necessary!)
30 Jan.....T35c0.....£10.20.....£70.03 (Things that weren't there on grocery shop)

Ditto thanks to Coxy, zippy and lynnejk

How does this overspending happen? I need a few food bits so I start a home food shop delivery order. I need too much to go to the local supermarket (I can't carry it all home) plus they don't have a fantastic amount of choice nor some of the things I want.
I *think* I can stretch to the £40 spend to qualify for my free delivery saver but when I come to check out, I've spend £90?

My month starts today and I have kicked it off with a spend of £68.99 on a meat hamper and veg/fruit box. The hamper should be £70 and today is the last day to order it at £50 so have gone for it. The fruit and veg box will last 2 weeks with a few additions of extra green veg.

    £68.99/£320.

My meal plan has been done for the next month, just need to work out what DH wants to eat as I am on a specific eating plan and DH is trying to lose weight and get fit.

I must do a stocktake before I go to the new Lidl that has opened down the road on Friday.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

Thank you, I cannot understand why this has stopped working for me, it happened after a windows 10 upgrade.

sorry for the late reply meg72 and someone may have answered already as I'm only just catching up on the thread... if your operating system upgrade has caused some incompatibility with the forum (which is bizarre but seems to be what has happened) then you can do it manually.

I'm going to use these brackets { to show you - but you must replace with the square brackets [

    {COLOR=RED} {B} {SIZE="5"} Meg's Example {/SIZE} {/B} {/COLOR}

You just copy and paste that line above, change the curly brackets to square brackets, and change the text in the middle to say what you want in big bold red letters.

What browser are you using? (with the version if possible please) and I'll see if there are known issues :)

  • Hi Chums declaring for the end of January Spent £41.21, have £18.79 left over which will get swept into my holiday fund today

New February budget for food is £60.00.No shopping to buy for at least the next 10 days :):):):j:j:j

Well done to everyone for their efforts Its hard when the food prices seem to be going up daily ,but having a budget helps to keep you focussed on what you buy I only ever use cash and keep my food cash in a seperate purse and only take that with me when I actually go to the shops with my list of essentials that is needed
    Onwards and upwards chums

I have done my meal plan for February.
I keep it quite simple, I list 31 lunches, 31 main meals, and 31 desserts, trying to work around what I know is in the freezers and cupboards.
Then each day I look at what is in the fridge or needs using up before I choose meals for that day off my list.
Shopping involves going through the lists and making a note of anything I haven't got.

Shopping is my downfall, I'm too keen on bargains and YS.
The month starts off well but towards the end it does get a bit ragged - mainly due to the bargains and YS.
However, it is a whole lot better than it used to be, my stocks are slowly going down, I'm using up leftovers, and I'm being far more creative, but best of all I'm spending less money

If I didn't use this thread and read all the inspirational postings goodness knows how much I would have spent.

Meg, that's a genius idea with the cabbages!

Well, my February starts tomorrow but I will have a NSD today :j

    Just
    £292.90/ £3650
spent so far and February should be a cheaper month for us as DD/I will be elsewhere for some of the holiday week. We also have at least a weeks worth of meals cooked in the freezer already.

We will still lift the same £300 in cash and the leftovers will go towards holiday spends - we're heading away in April for a few days.
