That's a lot cheaper than piddling little 4 or 5l containers you get in Halfords and the like.
£25 quid is more than enough.
I call BS on that. Put a link to any garage that quotes less than £25 for a service.0 -
There is no requirement to use a main dealer to preserve your warranty. An independent is fine as long as they use VAG approved parts.
Though I'd concede that it weakens the goodwill if you later need some of that in order to get a warranty fix.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Certain VW engines require the spark plugs changed on mileage as well as age
My wife has a 1.4 TSI, when that was serviced at 4 years and 32500 miles they did not change the spark plugs on a minor service
The next year it was just under 40000 miles, before I took it in for its major service i read the service book and found that the plugs should have been changed by age the year before, i asked when i booked it in if they would be changed, and they said it depended on what the computer system generated for the parts.
I then spoke to the service manager and pointed out that it stated the plugs should have been changed at 4 years, he agreed and authorised the spark plugs to be changed
When i collected the car there was an invoice for work done and it showed 4 spark plugs £107 for the set, that is the reason they do not change them the cost
We had a 2 year service plan in force at the time0 -
I took it to a VW dealership for a Major Service. So basically I paid £329 for an oil change and a VW stamp. Do you think I should complain?
That was your first mistake. A decent independent would have done it for a fraction of the price. Or learn to do it yourself - routine servicing is a piece of cake.0 -
Or buy a VW service plan for £399 and get two MOTs, a minor service and major service as well as a bunch of other stuff...
Cheers0 -

Still BS. Link to a garage that will do oil and filter for £25.0 -

Yeah, because they pay £107 for 4 spark plugs0 -
Changing spark plugs on time only is mad, no way does an unused spark plug deteriorate as unused oil can. Just another money spinner.0
