@neilmcl Lose the tone sir. There is nothing "oddly" about this, maybe just maybe I am not glued to the forum? Maybe just maybe I am doing other things. I suggest you lose the tone or speak to people via your keyboard hero method in a better fashion. You rudeness and ability to conversate is poor. I do not need advice from you. Step out of the conversation if you wish to act like a child.

The price of the vehicle (spec considered and mileage) pre "Scandal" was worth 11k. 8 months after owning the vehicle is was worth 8.6k Then after the emissions scandal I test drove another VW and was offered 5.6k Which was exactly 6 months later.

So I would expect the car to be worth in the region of 8k and NOT the 5.6k they now offer.
There's no "tone", I asked you twice whilst you were posting on this thread and twice it was ignored. Don't take offence.

Was £11K the original purchase price or have you had the car since new?

There's only one poster with an attitude on this thread and I'm replying to them.

BTW I'd suggest you re-read the first post on this thread and in particular Slater & Gordon's letter. You'll note there is no reference to claiming for any alleged drop in second hand values only "any adverse effect of the ‘fix'".

    Can everybody please chill.

The action is led by 2 firms. Salter and Gordon appear to be taking a less comprehensive role online because Harris Sinclair have answered all the questions. I quote from the FAQ section of their Web site..

"We believe that you have overpaid for your vehicle, and that its resale value may also be affected. While the amount of individual compensation is likely to be modest, VW should compensate you for the loss you have suffered. If the case is proven, VW should be made to pay back the extra profits it has made as a result of installing a defeat device instead of creating a legitimate engineering solution to the demands of the Emissions Regulations."

Lots of firms are now asking to represent us but it will all link to the original firms.

Also, Harris Sinclair are commissioning independent experts to assess the fix to see if the many online claims of worse performance and higher rate of problems are true.

    Peace
    Peace.

    The sound of silence.....

  • I was called by https://www.caremissionslawyers.co.uk who are part of Your Lawyers Ltd. It was a fairly junior person who said that they were claiming for a full refund on the value of the car purchase. It seems this is a separate claim to the Slater and Harcus joint effort. They wanted to get my address but I refused and asked to see the documentation by email. I have an email, but no details on their claim. She said they had no deadline for joining the group action at this early stage.
    Peace.

Sounds like this is going the way of PPI claims with all the ambulance chasers sniffing around for a pay day. Full refund :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am truly gobsmacked by this thread, I assume it was posted elsewhere initially to be populated by so many snowflake millenials with their holier than though views!

I was shocked when she told me. When I questioned her she said the final settlement will be higher if that is the starting position.

The problem is the fix on the cars is getting a lot of bad complaints, so the true cost of all this will be different for different types of engine, and also not known for some time yet.

We should get something to cover our loss.

What about all the UK businesses selling the cars?! I bet they have already started their claims, some might have a whole forecourt full of them .
    Peace.

The OP posted on this forum because of the forum's coverage. The OP has made it clear he doesn't want posts questioning his morals. I second his views (I am also an affected and aggrieved VW owner). We respect the right's of those non-VW owners who feel we have no right to feel aggrieved but such posts really add nothing to the debate.

I'm a VW Passat owner too. However I think these posts are still ridiculous chasing VW for money for nothing.
I do... My vehicle during trade in just before this new broke was £8500

I looked at another vehicle from the same dealer 3 months ago (1 year after the above) and now they offered me £5600.

I took a car in for trade in a year after buying it and the value had dropped 30%. It's called depreciation and happens on most cars.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
