Crazy_lady, sorry you've been having a rough time of ithope things brighten up a little for you this week x Do people stay with you for longer holidays, or is it just a one night thing?
I *think* this is the cashmere gloves link I'd talked to someone else about but there may be more - this just came up first in my search
https://www.turtle-doves.co.uk/pages/recycle-my-cashmere-jumper
I believe they make your pair and another pair, which they sell, from the one jumper. But you get 'free' gloves for the cost of the jumper and postage.
Thank you - I don't have any cashmere hanging around here, but will keep an eye out in the CS!
Ref duration of stays - a real mixture to be honest. Some one nighters (more work/.washing etc but then hardly know they are here), most are 2-3 nights, the odd week here and there. To be honest I keep the settings for length they can stay fairly short as I like the flexibility! These folk are here for 3 nights - perfect!I got my debt free badge awarded this week. I paid off the last of my loan just before the end of 2016 making me debt free :-). I can certainly say that it is the small things that make a difference. Small amounts saved here or not spent there build up and either cover sundry expenses such as hair cuts and presents or go towards paying off creditors.
Well done!!0 -
Afternoon all,
Datlex, Congratulations on being debt free.
FatVonD, that cinema sounds fab! I hope they enjoy.
Todays a chill day for us, my mood is again very low and I just wanted to be home and hibernating, We don't have the usual big Sunday lunch to do today so can take things easier.
Todays small things
* We all stayed in bed for a lie in, which meant the heating stayed off for longer
* Kids finished off the ys bread for toast for their breakfast
* Wiped out the fridge before Mr T delivery
* I've helped ds1 make us turkey curry for lunch, he did really well bless him.
* Going to have some of the 5p Panettone shortly with a cup of coffee. The coffee is a new one to try, my hubby has always insisted on staying with his usual (expensive) brand but when I was doing the online shopping yesterday I mentioned maybe trying the supermarket version and he said "why not" He's very good with all my mse ways but his coffee/tea and toilet rolls have been a no go area. So fingers crossed now that we like it!Cake was lovely, coffee wasn't really a hit but he's said he's open to trying others
* Going to watch Johnny English film with the kids shortly, it was what I bought from the cs the other day, they've seen the 2nd film before but couldn't find this one on Netflix/amazon/now
* The kids can finish off some popcorn they got in their xmas eve pressies with movie time, it was a big bag they had to share but when I've given it to them I've dished it up in a plastic drinks cup (type you'd use at parties) means the bags lasted a long time but they've felt like its what other people have in the cinema.
* Tonights food is going to be salad, ys quiche and jacket potato wedges
* Will all share bath water (I will leave hair to dry naturally and continue using up various lotions and potions)
* Check fpl/luckyphone/numberplate
* Search on inbox£ as I'm finally less then a pound away from the £20 payout
* Delete junk emails and unsubscribe from anything I can.
* See if there are any surveys available whilst I have time.
* Make families lunches for tomorrow
That's all for now.
Have a lovely Sunday afternoon all.

I've got some HM soup on - 2 red onions, 3 garlic cloves, punnet of mushrooms, stock, herbs. Tasty tasty.
Need to do some more costco investigations - to see if it's worth it for certain items...
Also need to do some work as got a client meeting on Tuesday (leaving on Monday at 3pm) and not v organised given the palaver last week...
Then later tonight we're batch cooking chicken pieces, watching cheesy TV, knitting socks - just the usual
Yeah cheery - that's the gloves people I used :A
Ha ha Bob - they're the ones! They also interviewed Leo Babauta and Courtney Carver who is awesome.

Crazy Lady, sorry you have been having a bad time. Hope things look up for you soon
Datlex, congratulations on becoming debt free - I remember that feeling :j
1LL, hope you perk up soon
Tired today, as we helped moved DS's home contents to DD1's (about 100 miles ) as she is happy to store it in her barn and we don't have that kind of space here, sadly. We stayed overnight to babysit for DD1 and her OH. Didn't sleep very well due to small bed, large, snoring OH and pesky dog who sleeps downstairs at home and couldn't believe his luck :rotfl: Anyway, home now, and DS will appear tomorrow, with his dog and the belongings that he is bringing here.
Spendy day yesterday as we gave the friends with vans etc who were also helping DS some money towards fuel and the bridge toll  Offset a bit by not spending anything today!
Other things:
Wood stove alight as it is cold and miserable, using free wood we bought back from DS's instead of the gas heating
Kettle on top for 'free' tea later :T
Sold 3 ebay items, so must pack those ready for posting tomorrow
Might list a few more things
Jacket potatoes for dinner tonight
An early night is definitely called for!0 -
chuffed with myself as I've just sewn a lined tote bag for my work stuff that I cart about with me - the joys of not having a proper desk - using scraps of material from projects long long ago (I haven't got my sewing machine out since dgd moved in with us 2 1/2 years ago. Quite stylish it is too!DF as at 30/12/16

Afternoon! A quick check in from me. Not done too much today, had a Mr A shop delivered and popped into town. I need to get back into my MSE ways and quickly, money is very tight at the moment and payday is a while away! Tomorrow should be a NSD, hopefully! Today I have/will:
- Check bank accounts
- Surveys
- Tidy around
- B/L/D from home - Healthy eating
- Mr A shop delivered - Done
I cant think of anything else at the moment but I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday! xDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250 -
Hi Sunday Savers,
Not an NSD today, but sone useful stuff:
*Washed hair & am letting it dry naturally.
*Free parking for town this morning. Parked on outskirts & walked in.
*Free coffees & biscotti as mr f treated us both with his Costa loyalty points. Then he had another free one from Waitrose.
*Bought this year's marmalade oranges.
*Found my favourite shampoo half price.
*Wrapped M-i-L's bday gifts using recycled pretties from my stash.
*Bought some much needed black leggings. Used my 'Monsoon' voucher from Christmas so no impact on budget.....& had a big spray of their lovely perfume while waiting for leggings to be wrapped.
*Bit of decluttering as mr f put our big Christmas decs box back up in the loft & added a load more stuff to my charity bag pile.
*Knit like mad. Have finished 2 pairs of socks for my sock order plus 1 of the 3rd pair & have just cast on the 1st of the 4th pair. Mr f's cooking night so I am going to get those needles clacking.
*Wrote this week's job list. Ouch!
FVD - Thanks for the anchovy spaghetti recipe. Sounds just my kind of thing.
Bob - We are enjoying 'Taboo' too. Tom Hardy is good in everything he's in. Loved him as Alfie Solomons in 'Peaky Blinders' too. He was terrifying!
Right. Time to light fire & rev up the knitting.

Leo Babuta seems to be having a UK moment. I have seen a few articles with him in now. I don't know Courtney Carver though I'm afraid." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Datalex Congratulations to you. Well done on all your hard work paying off.
Foxgloves Love Peakies. That crept up on me. Found season 1 on Netflix ages ago and watched it whilst my family were on holiday one week. Then before I knew it, everyone was raving about it. The movie filmed near us was The Krays.
Crazylady sorry you had a sleepless night. It's awful when you feel that torn up about something.
Well me today.
I had to go and do a few hours cleaning at the business as some bits hadn't been done in a while with Christmas etc. Cycled off into the rain at 11am, & cleaned the bathroom and kitchen ahead of the next party coming in.
Whilst there had yet another rubbishy stressful experience, which left me wondering if I'd have to call another professional out.. then my chain came off really badly on the way home and it took me about 15 minutes in the pouring rain to get it back on. I have had my fill this last week. Anyway moving on....
BLTs for lunch made with a cheap pack of cooking bacon.
Did a customer invoice.
Paid two business bills.
Used £2.50 in nectar points to take my bill down to £5.
Bought a large sack of catfood for £4 instead of £7.
5p roadkill
DH has to go back to the business later to let the customers out and tidy up, so his turn to get wet.
