Having recognised this, reduce her involvement.

Exactly what I want to do but apparently the family deal with her impossible attitude by showing her all the options for anything she is involved in so that she can choose. Of course it won't turn out how she imagined it despite it all being her choice and she will still pull faces and say "oh I'm just disappointed" and then they get into an endless loop saying "well that's the one you chose" and she will then sigh and say none of the choices were right and round and round they go.

Emailing the favours man to get a quote for a 3rd favour idea that I know she will hate and it will probably be more expensive but I am adamant I want my favours from this vendor as I know he is excellent and will produce something much better than we can buy online. She's had her say over invitations, centre pieces, flowers, cars... the list goes on and she's not winning this one.
  • Just tell her she's had her wedding - this one is yours!

Oh dear - from where I stand it looks like she already has by the very fact you are consulting her and giving her more options on the favours.

I told OH tonight that it will be the original favours and if she has anything to say about it she can go talk to a wall. I've literally had enough, the woman is a nightmare

Might as well start standing your ground now - if you don't, she'll be controlling the rest of your life and telling you how to decorate your house, what clothes to wear, what to eat, where to go on holiday, etc.

funny you should say that, she doesn't approve of our honeymoon and thinks it must cost too much (she has no idea how much it is).

Fairly typical of the type. :rotfl:

One of our relatives came back from honeymoon to find that MIL had redecorated the downstairs of their house because 'she had much better taste than our relative"!

In this case, the OH wouldn't stand up to his mother and the marriage didn't last.

Oh My god, that's insane! I can't begin to imagine how I would react to that. Was the new d!cor even any good? :rotfl:

    Aw Glaswejen,

I feel for you, would your oh say to her to butt out as this is starting to upset you so much?

It's obvious how much you love him, but if she continues the way she is, is there a chance you wouldn't go through with the wedding?

Or that she is going to ruin not just yours, but her sons wedding too?
Please be nice to all moneysavers!
