That is a good job done on the cupboard then! It's one thing I really wish our house had that is lacking - our predecessors used most of the understairs space to put in the downstairs loo, which is a great thing to have, but does leave us with an understairs so small it's difficult even to get a mop in there without collapsing it!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I don't think we found anything unexpected in there, just junk that had been chucked in! MrM snr is happy with our junk to sell though.
Or house doesn't have a lot of storage so it's good to be able to free up some space.
MrM and I have both been paid. We had £380 left at the end of the month so that has gone into savings to help pay for the garden office. I just did a total up and after paying it for it all, it will leave £1,950 in the EF so I'll be working on topping that back up.
I'm about to take 15yo out to go and find school trousers. It's a nightmare as she's quite short and wants trousers she can get shorts on underneath so she can play football at break. Not much of a challenge.
I'm looking forward to totalling up my tilly tidying for the end of the month. It really helps top up the savings too.2 -
We found a pair of trousers. They are too big in the waist but the smaller waist means they don't fit the legs (with shorts). So now need to get a belt.
I also need to replace our tumble drier that died earlier in the year so will take a trip out later to have a look. I've been looking at the heat pump ones that are more expensive to buy but more economical to run. Lots of reviews say that because they dry at a lower heat clothes are often left damp. So I think I'll be sticking with a condenser.
MrM & 15yo have gone to football and taken the dog so I better crack on and get the floors cleaned whilst I can! Doggo absolutely hates the hoover and attacks it.
Hope you all have a frugal Saturday.2 -
Did Aldi today and spent £96 but had to pop to Tesco for my toilet rolls so another £11.50 added. I was good in Tesco though, straight to toilet roll aisle and out the shop. 👍
I've also made my last tilly tidy of the month and am declaring £25.47 for August.

Happy 1st September everyone. We are now in the "ber" months. Cosy jumpers, soups & stews are coming. Let's also not forget toffee but latte's and best of all eggnog latte. 😋
I had another look at the remortgage offers today. The 5 year fixed is still at 4.04%. If we go for this, we're looking at an extra £60 per month. We're lucky it's affordable to us. 12 years left of the mortgage so I might start looking at small overpayment every month.
I also really need to get back into meal planning. I'm fed up of looking in the fridge and not knowing what I'm going to cook or not having all the ingredients to make something. I was going to make a paella tonight. I asked 20yo to get a pack of frozen prawns out the freezer but he forgot 😡
I'll log onto my Snoop soon and check what bills have come out today. There's something very satisfying seeing them all get checked off as paid.2 -
It is crazy how we have already got the 'ber' months but love this time of year. We are deffo an autumn kinda family and I have no doubt my home will smell all things pumpkin within a week 😂.
Snoop sounds pretty interesting, is it just like a payment tracker for bills?3 -
@FootyFanDan hey! Good to see you!
I just realised I wrote toffee but latte. Butt latte would not be nice! 🤣
Snoop is one of those apps that there's a free or paid for version. You link your accounts and then click on the bills section and it shows how much is in your account, how much on bills is due and checks them off as paid as you go through the month. Obviously I only use the free version so I get limited categories for budgeting. If I remember rightly, you were gung-ho on YNAB?1 -
I love the ber months, but the temp feels to have dropped so much in the last few days and I hate the cold!! Have you looked at the MSE overpayment calculator? My mortgage is just going through and im in the 6/7s
but its insane how the overpayments bring the term down x
